Kitesurfing! by KristaB Adriatic has some truly great spots for Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and what's the newest water gliding invention? Those people are very creative! Famous location is Bol - island Brac. Well ... if you love crowds, loud music, steep prices, you sure will love this place. And in case the wind is not right for windsurfing some day (notice the word Wind in the name Windsurfing), you can climb the church tower using your fingers and feet. I saw this on TV so it must be true. TV knows everything. I’m just not sure is this like open for general public sort of activity, or you need to pay something to the vicar, do they make you sign "on my own responsibility" peace of paper and pay in advance for the cleanup - I'm sure local pubs are the best place to find out. The "true" watersports freaks will rather choose Viganj on Peljesac peninsula. It's like a community there, the camp is almost entirely populated by young people with admirable postures and interesting hairdos. The winds there in the channel between Peljesac and island Korcula are excellent for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing. We were passing through that channel slowly (speed limit) but there was so many colorful fast moving people zooming around us, it was almost scary! Yep, one guy almost crashed into our boat! He probably thought that just because he's a cool dude we're going to change the course of our boat! Next place where I saw many impressive athletic postures trapped in sexy wetsuits carrying things for windsurfing is Punat on the island Krk. Excellent for beginners -the bay is almost like a lake, you can't get blown away, good winds, and if there’s no wind you can keep your muscles toned and adrenaline level appropriately high on the Ski-lift. Rafting on Cetina by KristaB Cetina river is running through beautiful landscape, guarded by rocky mountains but softly nested in luscious green foliage. The lower part of the stream, below Electric Plant Kraljevac Zadvarje is just perfect for rafting - the flow is almost completely controlled by plant's turbines, there's just enough speed, turns and small waterfalls to make your heart beat faster, plenty of wonderful sights to take your breath away during 3 hours of your great adventure The rafting tours are guided by experienced local skippers, and are safe enough even for children, I'd say from the age 5 up. In some areas, your skipper will tell you where you can swim in that crystal clear water, or he will stage a "fight" or race with another raft. But when he tells you to sit, hold, bend down or pedal - you better obey! It’s not a water-park ride operated and pulled by invisible motors, no breaks and emergency exits. It's a real thing - you will enjoy getting just a little bit tired, feeling your muscles and heartbeat. The price evolves around 25 Euros per person, our agency Slap had great discounts for families and the price included transfer from anywhere between Split and Makarska to the starting point under Slime and back “home” from Radmanove Mlinice. Also - this agency obviously had the longest route, the service was incredibly friendly and they give you neoprene trousers to save your delicate arrears. We had the most wonderful time, and we shall certainly do this again, maybe even one more demanding "canyoning" adventure which takes place on the upper Cetina stream, above the electric plant. Simply because it was great and we want more! photo by diocletianvs by acemj Like most of the world, Croatians are football crazy. They also follow basketball pretty fervently (ever since the late, great Drazen Petrovic made a big splash in the NBA) and, believe it or not, they like kickboxing too, since they have one of the world's best in Mirko Filipovic. But soccer is still the king. Split's team, Hajduk, has been around since 1911 and is one of the country's most successful clubs. They won Yugoslav championships many times over the years and became Croatian champions in '92, '94 and '95 and '01 Zagreb's soccer team is called Dinamo and their supporters are known as the Bad Blue Boys. They play at Maksimir Stadium, just outside the main city center. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching

Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: it is located in the ugly and industrial part of zagreb, but it just gives it a more spectacular and dramatic setting.

Photo from www.coccoball.hr by diocletianvs If you've never heard of Coccoball, that's because this is a recent Croatian invention, becoming more and more popular especially along the coast during the summer. Coccoball has been invented three years ago in south-Croatian town of Ploce, although its author says that the idea can be traced in the jungle forest of West Africa. This sport combines basketball, rugby, football, handball, wrestling and other sports. Motto of Coccoball is: "Phonies play volley-ball in sand and the real man play Coccoball". Coccoball is the only sport where man are judged by women referees, and vice versa. An important rule also says that each important game or tournament has to be accompanied by some humanitarian activity.
Coccoball is played during the summer in sand or in shallow water, on the playfield size 16×8 m. Each team has three players, but also there is a play version with five players in each team. They play barefoot and wear shirts with one girder. Game lasts 3×10 minutes of active playing. The aim is to hit with hairy ball, two kilos of weight, to the small or to the big basket located on the palm trees within the play field. Hitting the small basket wins one cocco (point) and the bigger basket hit wins two. All lines are forming the out line, meaning: there are no mine / your side. Out is played in a way that the player turns his back towards the playfield. Pushing a player is allowed, trimming, carrying the opponent around, grabbing by his clothes and all bodily parts except genital parts, face, hair and neck. Open kicks, pinching, strangling, hair-pulling are prohibited. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPhone: 385 20 678 318, 385 91 25 24 77Directions: Contact address: "Coccoball", A.K. Goran Ivanisevic by canaglic Goran Ivanisevic - Wimbledon Champion 2001. Ivanisevic and those fans, plus scores of thousands more besides, were dancing again when another title came home to Split. The whole country, it seemed, came to a standstill and 150,000 were on the streets to greet him and to party with him. Goran Ivanisevic, Wimbledon champion, was home. 'Thank you for believing in me,' Goran told the multitude. 'I will remember these two days for the rest of my life. We are only 300,000 in Split but we are the biggest in the world. Brazil? Not even Brazil can make something like this.' Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Croatian dive instructors, Danijel and Petra by mtncorg There are lots of dive operators in Croatia which seems to be the main area of diving in Europe. There are lots of wrecks and plenty of sea life to see. The water visibilty varies with the region of the coast - generally getting clearer the further south you wander. I did my open water certification dive with the good people at Bougainville Diving Center in Biograd na Maru. Our diving was from the shore off the island of Murter just to the south. My instructors, Danijel and Petra were very competent and knowledgable, making my time very well spent. The dive center owner, Ger - a displaced Dutchman, takes certified guests out to many sites in the area on his diveboat daily during the season. And with the Kornati Islands just offshore, there are plenty of sites to dive.
You can bring your own equipment or rent what you need from Bougainville. Leave a Comment
