Advanced sailing course in Croatia

by blazeog

Recently I went to sailing school on Murter in a small village Jezera. For those who don't know, it is a small island connected with bridge in the middle of Croatian coast. I really had a great time, people who were with me learning how to sail were great, mostly Croatian people but I met people from all over the Europe. Sailing school A.N.A has great courses from beginner to advanced sport and other special courses. Instructors are great too and I am looking forward to go there again. Depends on time of the year and weather, but take suncream and wind-blocker jacket always

Adriatic aquatics

by TheWanderingCamel

You'll find beautiful deserted beaches with the clearest of clear water along the Adriatic coast(photos 1) and others that are just concrete shelving like this one (photo 2) by the old harbour in Dubrovnik. With over 1700 kilometres of coastline stretching out around the mainland's deep bays and inlets and over 1000 islands of all shapes and sizes with a further 4000+ kilometres, there really is room for everyone, and some like it more crowded than others! Most natural beaches are stony - hard on the feet but it's one of the reasons the water is so clear. Some are absolutely spectacular - Bol, on the island of Brac, having the most famously beautiful of all, Zlatni Rat, a huge draw for tourists that sees thousands of people come there each year, though we've stayed in Bol in June and had the beach virtually to ourselves for our morning swims (photo 3). Others are naturally rocky shelves....

Xtra Small Swimming Pool

by SirRichard

When I saw the small boat for the Kornati Islands daytrip I though the man of the tickets was cheating when he promised me "swimming pool on board". BUT he was true, there was a swimming pool inside the little boat, the smallest I had ever seen, filled daily with sea water, but used only for the small kids (a great relief for their parents!).

Transparent waters

by SirRichard

Croatia has some of the PUREST WATERS of the Mediterranean, and those around Kornati islands maybe the purest of all, being the area a preserved Natural park. If you take a boat daytrip to the islands from Zadar, you will have the opportunity to jump from the boat to the transparent waters in a swimming stop the boat makes after lunch.

Boat daytrips to the islands

by SirRichard

In many coastal areas, such as Zadar, Split or Dubrovnik, there are daytrips by boat to visit some of the 1000 islands along the coast. These are places you can hardly go on your own transport, as they are natural parks and so. I took a daytrip to KORNATI islands while I was in Zadar and it turned out to be a nice way to spend a day. I susually don't like group trips, but I managed to keep my privacy on the boat and enjoy it. You have like 2-3 hours sailing till the first stop, then 1 hour stop for a walk and swim in an inner salt lake. Then 1 hour sailing, stop for a swim at a little bay (the purest waters I have ever seen) jumping from board nad 2 hours to retun to Zadar.

Horse Racing

by boltonian

A hot bank holiday, a race meeting at the Zagreb Hippodrome, and what do you have..... Utter Chaos. The shabby stadium looked about ready to cater for 200-500 people. On this day, over 3000 were present. Each race was an hour late as the 4 cashiers could not take the bets in time. And for the thirsty masses, 2 beer pumps. After 3 hours, 5 beers and 2 wins out of 2 races, we left, puzzled by the lack of organisation.

Basketball

by Gili_S

For me, the first thought about Croatia always been the basketball, even when I was younger and it was Yugoslavia we always knew that the legendary teams from Zagreb, Split & Zadar are Croatian teams.
