Diving in Croatia - Biograd na Maru

by mtncorg

There are lots of dive operators in Croatia which seems to be the main area of diving in Europe. There are lots of wrecks and plenty of sea life to see. The water visibilty varies with the region of the coast - generally getting clearer the further south you wander. I did my open water certification dive with the good people at Bougainville Diving Center in Biograd na Maru. Our diving was from the shore off the island of Murter just to the south. My instructors, Danijel and Petra were very competent and knowledgable, making my time very well spent. The dive center owner, Ger - a displaced Dutchman, takes certified guests out to many sites in the area on his diveboat daily during the season. And with the Kornati Islands just offshore, there are plenty of sites to dive. You can bring your own equipment or rent what you need from Bougainville.

Goran Ivanisevic

Goran Ivanisevic - Wimbledon Champion2001. Ivanisevic and those fans, plus scores of thousands more besides, were dancing again when another title came home to Split. The whole country, it seemed, came to a standstill and 150,000 were on the streets to greet him and to party with him. Goran Ivanisevic, Wimbledon champion, was home. 'Thank you for believing in me,' Goran told the multitude. 'I will remember these two days for the rest of my life. We are only 300,000 in Split but we are the biggest in the world. Brazil? Not even Brazil can make something like this.'

TRY WINDSURFING it's a big fun!

by matcrazy1

.Surfing was first mentioned by captain James Cook who described Hawaians (is it correct in English? he?) surfing in the ocean in 1778.Who added a sail and started windsurf? Hmm... it's not sure. The patent for a windsurf board was given to the two Americans in 1968:- Jim Drake sailer and... airplane constructor,- Houle Schweizer surfer, skiier and... mathematician Cool men hehe!My conclusion is: TRY WINDSURFING it's a big fun!.

Almost OK :-)))

by matcrazy1

.It's even twice cheaper to take windsurfing lessons out of the season although water in May was cold but I didn't felt it busy trying to put my sail again and again from water and to stand on the board longer and longer hehe..

.Croatia is ideal place (high wind area and silent sea :-) for windsurfing. It offers numerous (and relatively cheap) schools of windsurfing with instructors speaking usually English and/or German.. You can rent everything: board, uniform and life-jacket hehe.

Soccer (Futbol) is huge here!

by Venturingnow

I was in Croatia when their national team was in the World Cup, and boy, they really love that sport. Crowds of people were allowed to loiter in department and electronic stores to watch the games on the big screen TVs. People stopping you on the street to yell at you because you didn't have the colors of Hvarstka (Croatia) on you. Bring some beer and you'll be able to watch the game with just about anyone you meet on the street. Just watch out for the crazies flying around the road, honking, hanging out of the windows, and screaming after a win.
