Croatian poet Petar Hektorovic (16. century) built his home in Starigrad. The house was fortified because of the turkish threat in that time. That gave the name to the house - tvrdalj (something like stronghold). In a way, you could describe it as a fortified renaissance villa (renovated in baroque style in 18. century).
Behind the house you can find a fish pond and a small botanical garden.
