Split.

by cachaseiro

Split is one of the most interesting cities in Croatia. It´s build around what was the palace of the roman emperor Diocletian and the palace is still a part of the old town and there are many people living in the remains of the palace aswell as in the venetian part of town right next to it.Split is also a very industrial city, but you do not need to spend much time in the new part of town unless you have a specific reason as that is quite ugly in my opnion. The old part of Split is very pretty though and certainly a must if you are in the area.

Trogir.

by cachaseiro

Trogir is a very pretty little town just north of Split and right next to Split airport. Many of the buildings there date back to the middle ages and it´s one of the best preserved towns in Croatia and considerd world heritage by UNESCO.It´s situated on a small island that is connected with the mainland by bridges and the town still has the old wall around it aswell as an old venetian fortress.Trogir is very popular with tourists and the prices can get a little "touristy" at time there and waiters can be a little too aggresive too, but all in all it´s a place you should go and see anyway.

Plitvice national park.

by cachaseiro

Plitvice national park is the best known national park in Croatia and really really scenic and postcard like.It consits of 16 lakes and their surroundings and is all together 296 square kilometers.Tehre is a lot of elevation in the park and the lakes are at different heights and all connected with waterfalls and streams. There is also a wide variety of wildlife in there ranging from Snakes, to Eagles, vulptures and bears, but you have no need to worry as the potentially dangorous animals do not roam the hiking paths in the park. You have very good hiking paths in Plitvice and you can easily spend the whole day hiking around there.Try and get there as early as you can so that you can get ahead of the crowds. The park is visited annually by 900 000 people so it can get crowded in there at time.

Paklenica national park.

by cachaseiro

Paklenica national park is one of the more unknown national parks of Croatia but a very interesting one if you are in to the ourdoors. It´s situated right by the coast north of the town of Zadar and has rugged mountains rising up right from the sea and you have many speices of animals thére and because of the steep acents ´the national park is a mecca for climbers and you see many young people on the trail in the park.

Zadar.

by cachaseiro

Zadar is my favorite town in Croatia. An old historic town with a very good young vibe and a mix of new an old architecture and ideas which i really like. The old part of Zadar is set on a peninsula and is very scenic and has a very livesly streeet scene both day and night.Parts of the old town is pedestrian and that just makes it better. The seafront has been redone recently and they have some facinating art projects there with a "sea organ" and a solar powerd piece of art called "greeting to the sun".Really cool projects that helps to make the town a place of the future and not just of the past.

Rovinj.

by cachaseiro

Rovinj is an old venetian town on the istrian peninsula. It´s a very idyllic place and often called the Monmatre of Istria because of all the artists who have settled there. It used to be an island, but it´s now connected with the mainland. The old part of town is probaply the best preserved on the istrian peninsula and it´s my favorite town in that part of the world.

Limski Kanal.

by cachaseiro

Limski Kanal is a fjord on the istrian peninsula that is very pretty. It´s 9 kilometers long and is in a very rocky terrain. There are many caves in the area too that used to house hermits in ancient times. If you drive along the istrian peninsula then a stop at the limski kanal is a must in my opinion. When i saw it for the first time at the age of 15 it was one of my first big "WOWS" in my life, so you better go there too and say WOW.

Tip Photo
Dubrovnik.

by cachaseiro

Dubrovnik is the best preserved old town in Croatia and a big magnet for tourists. The place is quite pleasant out of season, where the prices are also quite OK.It has lots of small winding streets where you can get yourself lost and pretend to be in another century.

Tip Photo
The island of Pag.

by cachaseiro

The island of Pag is a very nice place to go if you are in to mountainbiking. It is full of trails and the place has little car traffic in general. There are also good campsite on the island and a few beaches.Pag is well known for it´s high quality cheese aswell and you should for sure try the local speciality "Paski sir" which is an excellent goat cheese.Pag is connected to the mainland with both a ferry and a bridge near Zadar.

Tip Photo
Zagreb

by cachaseiro

Zagreb is the bustling capital of croatia.Very lively city with cafes and people who are dressed like they are just about to enter a catwalk. The city also has a very very nice old part of town and it´s generally an underated city in my opinion and deserves more attention than it get´s.
