Plitvice

by Adriana-RJ

This is, probably, the most beautiful place I ever see.... The National Park is pretty well organize. You can choose between 4 diferentes ways, based at the time you have to spend that. I choose the H way, with 10 km by foot, and parts by train or boat . Walking slowly, taking pictures, I spent 5 hours doing that. Was perfect! But there're bigger planning, so as short ones.

Wine Tasting and Touring

by PowerJ

The two stand out wineries were Peter Polletti in Visnjan and Ivica Matosevic in Sveti Lourec. They both produce fine Malvezia (Malvesia) white wines. Polletti produces some excellent red wines as well. He is personable and speaks English very well. He has a passion for wine and his wines are reasonably priced as well. It is a beautiful area to tour and taste wine and sample olive oil and purchase.

Swimming around Primosten

by ChrisAlexander

Having tried a fair few locations in Croatia I found Primosten in early June to have the best I've come across in terms of accessibility and space to spread out, whether that's finding your own spot or picking out a spot among other swimmers and sun-bathers.There are a variety of places to choose, whether rocky or sandy, with shade or without.

Castle Fortress Sibenik

by ChrisAlexander

Walking up to the hilltop fortress takes you through the town's maze of narrow little streets with plenty of opportunity for poking around.Pay a small entry fee to go through the gate and then follow the path to the upper walls and enjoy the views over Sibenik.

Zadar architecture 2

The Roman Forum and Church of Saint Mary represent some of the spectacle of Zadar's architectural merging of styles with the confines of the old town.Walk around early morning if you can to enjoy it at its most intimate.

Zadar architecture 1

The old town's centre point is the pre-Roman Saint Donat church (10th century),distinctive for its rounded shape, with the ancient Forum square site situated in front (1st century). Particularly nice to see early in the morning when not crowded.

Porec.

Porec is a nice town on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. Its highlight is the Euphrasius Basilica. This was built on the remains of an earlier one in the first half of the sixth century. This church has many beautiful mosaics inside.

Trogir.

On my second holiday in Croatia I choose Split as a base and I took a daytrip to Trogir. This is a very beautiful small town in middle Dalmatia. Its old core is situated on a small island connected with the mainland by a bridge.

North of Split

by TheWanderingCamel

60 km north-west of Split, Rogoznica's a pretty little town that is expanding rapidly. Situated on a tiny island (Kopara) connected to the mainland area (Kopaca) by a low causeway it was once a solely a fishing village and it's still possible to buy fish straight from the boat in the evening. We didn't do that, but we did have the most fanatastic freshly caught groper grilled for us at one of the specialist seafood restaurants there - it was so fresh it was almost flapping still as it was brought to the table! With a well-protected harbour and a deep approach, Rogoznica's a popular anchorage for the squadrons of yachts that sail this coast. A long coastal path leads to pretty little beaches around the peninsula - most are a mixture of pebbles and rocky shelving. The "private" beaches advertised by some apartment owners are just concrete shelving over the water - the public beaches are...
