Driving in Croatia
by travelmad478
Roads in Croatia are fine, but depending on how people drive where you live, you may want to drive a bit more defensively than normal. The roads are well-paved, but narrow and sometimes winding along the coast. People are generally very, very anxious to pass you, and there is a lot of tailgating. In the tourist season, there are also a lot of police! I didn't get any tickets, but after seeing an awful lot of speed traps, I decided to go no more than 10 km/hr over the posted speed limit at any time. This greatly annoyed everyone driving behind me, but so be it. I didn't feel like arguing with a Croatian policeman.
