Getting to Croatia.

by A2002

Croatia Airline flies to many cities within Croatia and from other European countries. The earlier you get your tickets, the cheaper the tickets will be.Since it was expensive to get there on Croatia Airline from London, I decided to get a ticket to Trieste, Italy and get to Croatia from there. I got my tickets during the FREE seats period of Ryanair to Trieste, and paid GBP28 for return from London Stansted.Ryanair did not disappoint me for this trip. In fact, it arrived earlier than scheduled. The only thing is that I have to wait for quite some time for my checked-in baggage at London Stansted.

JADROLINJA

by mtncorg

This is the main ferry connecting towns and islands along the Dalmatian coast from Rijeka to Dubrovnik. Between Split and Dubrovnik, the main ferry operates in daylight hours giving you great views along the coast. For the equally dramatic coast and islands between Split and Rijeka, the ferries, sadly for the sightseeing tourist, only operate at night.

Trams in Zagreb

by mehbal

We had time to get around Zagreb. Zagreb has very good tram service.Trams take you everywhere in the city.We saw people getting in without paying any charges,so we did the same.I saw very few people inserted something into a device in the tram, we could not figure why and what they did.We used trams without paying fee.I learned they are not free after i come home.If you dont scare to get caught ,you can use them without paying anything. I am sure there is a fine. But you can tell them you dont know, you are tourist, maybe they can forgive you for one time.

We went to Hvar island from Split by ferry. It was fairly comfortable trip took around 2 hours.Ferries can take automobiles too.I cant exactly remember the price. But it was 35 kuna per person i guess .In Split ferry port is just opposite bus terminal. You can obtain timetable and tickets in the stand.

Buses in Croatia

Buses are fairly comfortable in Croatia. We used buses to go to another cities on Croatia travel. There are two drivers. They change in the middle of way.Zagreb to Dubrovnik takes 12 hours priced at 160 kuna(25 usd)Zagreb to Split takes 7.5 hours priced at 115 kunaSplit to Dubrovnik about 5 hours priced at 100 kuna.We paid 5 kuna for each luggage. We mostly traveled at nights. So it is better to take something to cover yourself while sleeping. It can be cold even in Summer because of a/c.The bus in pic is the oldest one we used.

ARRIVING BY CAR and ROAD CONDITIONS in Croatia

by vanelic

Arriving by car to Croatia is another great option. Croatian borders with its neighbouring countries Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia-Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina are opened for the travelers. The best border crossings to Slovenia are Rupa, Pasjak, Bregana and Macelj, to Hungary Gorican and Terezino Polje, to Serbia-Montenegro Bajakovo and Debeli Brijeg while to Bosnia-Herzegovina the best border crossings are Stara Gradiska, Licko Petrovo Selo, Imotski and Metkovic. Border crossings can also be crossed on foot. The roads in Croatia are usually of fine condition, although it is advisable to slow down in the rural areas, especially on the Adriatic Coast, as the roads there are quite narrow. At the end of June 2003 Croatia has opened several new fast highways, making it now easier and faster to arrive to some destinations in the country. Those highways are: Breznicki Hum-Novi Marof on...

JADROLINIJA Ferry Services

by vanelic

The biggest Croatian ship company Jadrolinija operates ferries between the towns along Croatian coast of the Adriatic. They run throughout the whole year and during the summer months the services double. By sea Croatia is well connected with the neighbouring Italy: ferries run from the Croatian ports of Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik across the Adriatic Sea to Bari and Ancona. At the moment there are no ferries operating between Croatia and Montenegro, Albania or Greece. For a full timetable and fares of Jadrolinija's ferries check its official website.

CROATIAN RAILWAYS

by vanelic

Croatian Railways, or Hrvatske zeljeznice, connect Croatia with most of the European countries, making Croatia an easily accesible country. Zagreb is the traffic centre of this tiny republic and some of the services include Ljubljana in Slovenia (130 HRK / return), Budapest in Hungary (141 HRK / return), Skopje in Macedonia (264 HRK / one way) and Thessaloniki in Greece (380 HRK / one way). Domestic services connect Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Osijek with many smaller towns and villages across the country. A discount is offered for youth and senior travellers. For a full timetable of domestic and international services with fares visit the Croatian Railways' official website.

Croatia Airlines - Cheap flights within Croatia

by Callavetta

It is possible to get very inexpensive flights within Croatia on Croatia Airlines. I was able to book a flight from Dubrovnik to Zagreb for the equivalent of $44 US just one week before my flight. (it cost me $6 more than that just to get to the airport from town!)The airline was efficient and comfortable with leg room I would kill for on my favorite US airline.Again, I bought my tickets from a travel agent in Rovinj.
