From Poland to Croatia-Hvar

by KasiaWin

I have gon from Warsaw in Poland around: Czecg Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia-Zagreb to Split. In Split I boat by ferry to Novy Grad and by car to Jagodna. Ticket's prices is very expencive. Per persons is 32 KN ( child 16 KN) and car 216 KN . The farry boat goes 2,5 hours. I come back for Jagodna to Sucuraj and this way is very nice. There are very interesting vists and ferry is chipper and goes to Drvenik. For one persons I pay 20 Kn ( child 5 KN) and for my car 72 KN. The farry boat goes 0,5 hours. I come back from Croatia to Poland around Bosnia and Hercegovina (Sarajevo), Hungary (Budapeszt), Slovenska Republica and Poland. Very good way and very secure.

Slow boat to the Kornatis

by mtncorg

To travel into the Kornati Islands, you are going to have to get on a boat. You can take a multitude of day tours leaving from a myriad of ports along the central Dalmatian coast, from Zadar south to Sibenik. Boats come in all sizes, I recommend finding a smaller boat so that when they stop - either for touring about on shore, lunch or swimming - you don't have huge hordes of others to contend with.Better yet just rent a boat, take your own boat - a little more complicated if you live on the left coast of the US - or get a charter.Remember though, that if you stay in the boat when it is moving, your body will probably thank you for that at the end of the day.

Ferries a great way to island hop

by tampa_shawn

We used the public ferries when Island hopping around Croatia. The ferries were inexpensive, ran on time and were clean. For a schedule of the ferry times and destination go to the ferry booths in the ports. I’m not sure about other cities but both Split and Dubrovinic had quite a few options to choose from. Once on the islands we were able to get passage between the islands easily. Some of the ferry rides were very long so we spent our time on the ferry sleeping and reading. The car ferries had some great coves with wonderful sleeping couches, so if you find yourself on a car ferry and want to relax take some time to hunt for them. The masses are up on the deck partying and sunning so that is available also. The ferries also have restaurants and gaming areas that are sometimes open. The gaming areas on our ferries were closed and we brought our own food so I cannot tell you much about...

Plane, bus, train, car, ferry...

by AussieKitten

'Flights connect Zagreb to a swag of European cities. Croatia's international airport is 17km (11mi) south-east of Zagreb. The departure tax is US$8. Buses run between Zagreb and several cities in Hungary and Germany, as well as to Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium). Trains connect Zagreb to Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania, while ferries link Croatia to Greece and Italy. Travellers with their own vehicle can use four border crossings between Hungary and Croatia, 29 between Slovenia and Croatia, 23 between Bosnia and Croatia and seven between Yugoslavia and Croatia (Lonely Planet).''Croatia Airlines has daily flights from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Skopje. The country's excellent bus network is far-reaching and reasonably priced. Trains are cheaper and more comfortable than the bus, but also a lot slower. All the usual car rental chains are represented...

Driving around

by matcrazy1

.Main roads are quite well signed but the secondary not necessarily, so driving around watch carefully road direction signs and be prepared to... get lost from time to time, try to save your marriage (if you drive with your wife/husband), just be happy to drive to the next out off the beaten path :-)..

By a car

by matcrazy1

.Main roads are generally in good condition, but in some parts of mountains very twisting. Unfortunately there isn't highway neither along the coast either from Zagreb to Split and Dubrovnik. The traffic is slow because of some slow trucks, you must be patient - overtaking maybe hazardous. Highways are toll but not expensive, you can pay in Euro.Uptodate road conditions and info on traffic in Croatia provided by Croatian Automobile Association (HAK): http://www.hak.hr/hrv/naslovnica/index.aspChoose the language (Croatian, German, Italian or English) on the left side of the page..

Getting around Croatia

by bermanv

The only downside I found in Croatia. If you're trying to get to a close location, usually, you have no reason to worry, but if you're heading across the border, even if it's close, like Slovenia, beware that there is usually no more than one bus / train a day. There are at least two bus companies in Croatia, Autotrans and Trolleytrans. Autotrans buses are usually more comfortable and air-conditioned. In any case, a bus can be late for to 15 minutes. If you're renting a car, beware of those nasty narrow curvy roads and don't overspeed!
