Favorite thing: An excursion to Bisevo island and visiting of the famous Blue Cave is certainly "a must thing to do" while you are on Vis. So one evening I went to the main travel agency as I wanted to book for the next morning. To my great disappointment, they told me everything was booked already. I did not expect this could happend off-season.

Fondest memory: By accident I came across Nika Adventure Tours and later realized how I was actually lucky. While the other boat to Bisevo was packed, we were only two passengers in a big and comfortable boat. And guess what? It was even cheaper! The owner, captain Darko, was really nice; he did everything to please us and make our excursion the unforgettable adventure.

Nika Adventure Tours was launched only a year ago and it's the youngest travel agency on the island. It specializes in excursions according to passengers' wishes and it's very convinient for those who want more than conventional tourism can offer. You can have a closer look at:

Klapa Music

Favorite thing: One of the real delights of Croatia's Dalmatian coast is its Klapa music. The world klapa translates as "a group of people" and traces its roots to choral singing. Klapa is a cappella music, occasionaly it is possible to add a gentle guitar and mandolin (instrument similar to tamburitza). It is usually composed of up to a dozen male singers and in recent times, female vocal groups have been also quite popular.

The themes are love, homeland, the sea and wine. Main elements of the music are harmony and melody. Klapa songs reflect Dalmatia's natural beauty, evoking the sea and sun. The sweet melodies and lush harmonies have universal appeal, most people are smitten on first hearing.

Klapa tradition is still very much alive. If you want to experience it, ask in the the local restaurant. In July and August, there are summer festivals with plenty of klapa. You can get the programme of the envents in the local tourist office. Even if you are in a small town, it is not unusual to hear klapa music on the streets in the evening. Many young people from Dalmatia treasure klapa and sing it regularly when going out eating and drinking. Having a group of klapa singers around the table with some red wine... It's truly unforgattable experience!!

Here is the concert version of famous Klapa Intrade with the beautiful song Croatio iz duse te ljubin - Croatia, I love you from all my heart :)

Peronospora Blues bar terrace and beach

Favorite thing: Town Vis consists of two settlements - village Luka (port) and village Kut (corner), located arround the large bay. The ancient Issa was located near Luka, on the hillside towards monastery and the church of St. Jurij on Pirovo peninsula.

A lovely walk from one end to another is full of small interesting sights, don't forget to wander away into side streets.
Window shutters winking, dancing curtains, gentle flowers, echoing voices.

The main promenade fills with boats in the afternoon. Cacophony of languages blending together for thousands of years.
Encounters crisscrossing like boat ropes.
