I used to go to the croatian islands over the past years & was very disappointed at how"artificial" the island has become. In search of tourist euros it has acquired an "disney world affect". It is very over priced; A dalmatian would never pay the prices they ask of foreigners. It has a short 'tourist season" so it prices everything to the maximum And all the PR comes from one savy computer- web site designer who has promoted the island as the best... who also runs one of the hotels & who also is a journalist photographer for the newpaper. So much for objectivity. I suppose they are not concerned about conflict in of interest.

Villa Kaliopa, just in front of my apartment in Kut bay, is described as the best restaurant in Vis and maybe it could be so for the elegance of the place, that is a Villa with a wondeful garden with palms and statues, but certainly not for the food and for the price. There is no choice and the fish is very expensive and the Chef tends to choose for you what he wants and in the end you pay a lot and you have not eaten what you want!!
Unique Suggestions: Just go in the garden and take some photos...
Fun Alternatives: As an alternative, go to the centre of Kut and you will find several konoba and restaurant like Pojoda one that is one of the best in Vis!
