The decor in this hip lounge tends toward Far Eastern harem style, with jeweled lights covered with gauzy fabric and sheer tiebacks hanging from every portal. The effect screams "extremely chic and wealthy," and the clientele does, too: Brown wicker chairs and couches fitted with white linen cushions are always filled with beautiful people sipping exotic drinks while murmuring into cellphones and keeping an eye on their Porsches parked at the curb. Open daily 10am to 2am.

The modern sofas and chairs that fill this upstairs lounge next door to the Millennium ice-cream and pastry shop in the center of town are all white, and the music is white-hot but not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Exotic drinks are the specialty; snacks are available, too. Great place to get to know a first date. Open 9am to 1am Monday to Saturday. Closed Sunday.

A good place to start any night out in the Croat capital is Tkalciceva street in Gornji Grad. A pretty thoroughway it also boasts the city's highest concentration of bars and cafes which are perfect for taking in the capital at a slow pace. The Main Square also makes a decent place to begin the night, with a continental cafe vibe presiding and a chance to see the world go by.
In terms of nightclubs, Zagreb has plenty to offer too. Saloon and Sokol are two perennially popular hangouts that have provided the city with many a wild night out, whilst more alternative fun can be had at the Tvornica Club, which hosts all manner of live acts and shows, and cult fave Kset.
During the summer much of the Zagreb nightlife scene decamps to Lake Jarun. Beaches, babes and bikinis get the juices boiling by day and a plethora of bars, cocktail lounges and clubs provide the release by night. Aquarius and Piranha are two hot locales worth checking out, and can justify the taxi ride during the winter as well.

It's always packed on friday and saturday nights, mostly with students. It's one of those places people like to call alternative. They play nice music (rockish but there can be different themes sometimes), there's a open terrace, drinks are cheap.

Cine star is newest and the best multiplex cinema in the town. It offers, on a daily basis, several films all of them top world hits of the moment. To those who are film fans it is nightlife tip to remember. The film performances are in original language with croatian title.
The Cine star is situated in the centre of the town, right behind hotel Sheraton and a foot from the central railway station.

Komedija is one of my favourite theatres in Zagreb. It is small theatre, but it's preformances are brilliant. It's Broadway in Zagreb- it's preformances are mostly musicals. During the summer they have outdoor preformances-usually in Maksimir or at lake of Jarun. Simply-don't miss it!
repertoar: Chicago, Edith Piaf, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, Little Floramye...
Dress Code: Casual, maybe a little more dressed up (but not overdressed), since it's a theatre.

As I've said earlier, Zagreb is a great place for a stroll and at night it feels safe. There are usually quite a few people around and most areas in the town center are well lighted. I imagine that when the weather is a bit warmer, there are even more people out enjoying the night.

Maybe it was the time of year (February), but Zagreb was by far the most happening city in Croatia that I was able to visit. I'm sure the coastal towns are jumping during the summer months, but Zagreb seems to be the type of place that can sustain the energy throughout the whole year.
Dress Code: If you head to the main square, Trg bana Jelacica, you're sure to find throngs of people out at night. After all, it was quite chilly when I was there and it didn't seem to stop the locals from coming out for a night on the town. Just around the corner from the square, you'll find Zagreb's most famous street, Tkalciceva, a great place for a stroll.
I'm told that in the summertime, people can be found lounging outside in chairs supplied by the many cafes that line the street. Even in the middle of winter, it was hard to find a table in the restaurants and bars here.
The beer (pivo) in the photo is a local concoction called Ozujsko. It's not bad and can be found all over town.

As I am not a night type person, I may not be the best one to give you the tip about the night life in Zagreb but for sure I know there are places for everyone! Bars and clubs are opened till wee hours, there are several bigger and smaller dance clubs, night clubs and discos. How to find them? Simply follow the crowd, especially young peolple, they are the most frequent visitors! :-)
