Nokturno offers a wide range of Italian dishes from pizza to pasta. It seems to be popular among both locals and tourists. Even VT members are said to be seen here.
The food is delicious and surprisingly cheap for the central location of the place. Nokturno has a nice little outdoor terrace facing the pedestrianised cobbled alleyway Skalinska.

Tablecloths of checked red and white (like traditional trattorias in Italy) combine brillantly with a wine list and extensive menu to make yours great experience. A prime date location just off the centre square.

Its a great Italian reatsurant for pizzas and pasta. Situated in the old part of the city, in a small rustical house, with two rooms (smoking and non-smoking), great ambient and one of the best pizzas in city, if now the best. The make it in the old brick owens like it is supposed to be made.

It seams that restaurant is new, but cooks are not, they do know their job well. The food was very delicious. Restaurant is near Student Hostel Stjepan Radic and is available to many young tourists who are staying in a hostel at summer.
Favorite Dish: I've become addicted to pizza oliva. Great pizza dough, the perfect ingredients, perfect meal after which you can drink a glass of excellent Croatian red wine . All prices are on their website.

Food is art at this beautiful, unpretentious restaurant behind the facade of an unremarkable building a few blocks from the city center. Homemade pasta in countless shapes and a rainbow of colors dries behind glass near the restaurant entrance. The kitchen, too, is visible behind glass, so diners can watch the chef work his magic. Even the extensive wine cellar is artfully displayed in a corner of the house. The menu is mostly fish with several interesting recipes such as tuna with polenta and red-wine sauce, or beef soup with ravioli. There is a stylish white stone terrace, a cozy casual dining room, and more formal space where crystal and silver set the tone. The waitstaff is congenial and knowledgeable about both the food preparations and complementary wines.

Boban is a basement restaurant near the main square. We've been here twice on our winter visit to Zagreb because we really enjoyed the food here. In summer we immediately went back and forced the local VTers to have our VT dinner here!
They serve Italian food here, mainly meat and pasta. If you are looking for pizza this is not your place, there's no pizza on the menu. The pasta, however, is gorgeous - very big portions, very fancy combinations and very delicious. Prices are very reasonable and the English speaking staff is friendly. I'm already looking forward to coming back here on my next visit to Zagreb.
Upstairs from the restaurant there's a nice bar which is called Boban, too.
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish in 2005 and 2007 was Penne Mamma Rosa (yes, I am boring ;). Thomas enjoyed his Gnocchi Mari e Monti so much, he ordered the same dish three times already. The Crostino I had for starters was gorgeous as well.

You go downstairs to enter the actual restaurant. Upstairs there is a bar with the same name. Toilets are halfway down the stairs. The restaurant has a wide selection of dishes. I ate "spaghetti carbonara".

This good and inexpensive restaurant is situated in a small and short street which leads from the Cathedral, over market place of Dolac, into the Tkalciceva ulica.
Favorite Dish: Here you can get chep and good food like: spagetti, lasagne, pizza and seafood. It is very popular among VTers, and many of them have eat here during visiting Zagreb.

Nokturno has got to be the best pizza place in the Zagreb center! Although I prefer small, local & familiar pizza places, I often take friends who are visiting there. It's located between the Dolac market at Opatovina & Tkalčićeva street. You can get there from ban Jelačić square, going towards the north, passing the phone booths & turning left before the stairs. Nokturno is situated in the first street on the right [almost right opposite the famous Krvavi most - Blood bridge] & it offers a great & charming view of the Cathedral towers. The street is located in the pedestrian zone & is pretty steep, but the location is great! You can sit outside during the summer, but it's almost always crowded.
The atmosphere is cozy, the staff nice & the prices reasonable. I suggest you go there & enjoy a pizza the Croatian way! ;)
