    Centar Kaptol: Shopping mall

by yumyum Written May 6, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In this shopping center of the latest architecture you will find cafés/restaurants and a variety of the more expensive shops. What makes it attractive is the contrast if you approach it from the Tkalciceva street, where you have all the old buildings with cafés/restaurants and little shops and then suddenly you come upon this modern shopping center with multiplex cinema.

You will find the entrance to this mall to the right of the railway station. There is a passage in the mall in order to reach the back of the station. There is a variety of shops down there. Even though it's by the railway station I didn't see anything seedy at all but it was rather pleasant there.

This huge shopping center on Jankomir (west Zagreb) offers a full day of shopping! Clothes, brands, food, drinks, sports store, technical goods, huge supermarket, Mango! Other things you can find there are highly branded watches, Fur store, home store, very good hairdresser, bookstore, Sisley, Benneton, Furniture store, Shades store, Kids store with a playground, underwear, Last minute trip agency, Miss Sixty, pharmacy, DM store. There is a special bus located at Zagreb bus station that takes you to it for free!

THis is was the first MANGO store in Croatia! (now there are 4- 5 more)

What to buy: Buy clothes, its still relatively cheaper than in the EU :)

What to pay: just under EU prices in all but food ;(

    Centar Kaptol: Modern mall

by acemj Updated Mar 5, 2004

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This modern mall is located at the far end of Zagreb's most famous street, Tkalciceva. It's an interesting contrast as you walk along the cafe-lined street of older buildings and suddenly you see the modern mall after about five minutes on your right. Inside the mall, you'll find indoor cafe style seating in food courts and some interesting architectural elements among the many modern shops like Mark's & Spencer . There is also a movie theater here.

Another place to find a modern mall is below the ground underneath the Hotel Esplanade at the Importanne Centar. I didn't go here, but I mention it because it's more conveniently located if you're staying at one of the hotels near the train station.

    Importane Gallery II: Molls

Situated in Vlaska street it is just in a walking distance from the Main Square, no more then 10 minutes walking. It isn't spacious, there are two storeys only and easy to access all shops. Besides shops it has several cafe-bars and pizzeria.

What to buy: As for cloths, do not expect designed brands here, an average quality and look and mostly casual clothing styles. The are like dozen shops with the shoes, some of them very expensive, and offering really nice and quality shoes.
To those who need photo equipment or new camera there excist pretty good shop and not so expensive.

Importanne Centar and Importanne Galleria: Importanne shopping centers

by FRONA Written Nov 28, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

These are 2 most famous shopping malls in the city center. Importanne Centar is right next to the Train Station and Hotel Esplanade. It is a great promenade place and traffic connection point so the food is always fresh :) It has loads of snack bars, loads of Italian shoe stores, loads of sports stores, loads of lingerie stores. My favorite stores there are TOPSHOP (the biggest in Zagreb, still quite a small one) and Gulliver.

Importanne Galleria is situated in Vlaska street and features a number of ladies clothes store, watch stores, kids stuff, Pet store and snack bars. Details on both stores you can find on their website.

What to buy: Clothes of all kinds

What to pay: depends on the shop

One of the shopping centres in the center of Zagreb. There you can find everything- cosmetics, shoes, clothes, jewlery, electronics...There is also a bunch of bars to sit and relax from walking, a restaurant and a multiplex. They have long Thursdays and then it works until 23:00, so you can enjoy in night-shopping.

All of them ^O^: Importanne Center

    by Martin_S. Written Nov 7, 2003

If you travel with kids or with women at all you will realize that a shopping center should be given equal status with National Parks. I have seen them stand in front of a shop with clothes displayed with the same awe that I stood at the foot of Niagara Falls or in Plitivicka..
So we made a "pilgrimage" to Importanne Center which was the first shopping mall to be built in Zagreb. It is also underground near the central train station.

What to buy: Special??? You can see in the picture Tal and Zdenka checking out the goods. When Zdenka "offered" to take Tal shopping I knew in my heart that we were in for trouble, now we had two "born to shop" girls....ouch.

    Shopping malls - Importanne Galleria

Importanne Galleria is the sister mall of Importanne, luckily not a twin sister. This mall is of more pleasant interior, not at all difficult to orient at, stores are not as numerous and therefore of decent size.
Open daily 9:00-21:00, also on Sundays 11:00-18:00.

There's a very modern movie theatre here, just like in Kaptol Centar.

What to buy: My favorite stores:
    Kenté
    Guliver

    Kaptol centar: Moll

by croisbeauty Updated May 19, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Kaptol Centar is relatively new mall, opened like 10 years ago, and in the beginning it was one of the most attractive shopping centres of Zagreb. The investors had great ambitions because this mall has very good location, about 10 minutes walking from the main square, but as it usual happening they didn't have clear ideas what to offer to a potential customers. Variety of offers is desirable but only if the concept was developed to target customers. Quality goods and trash is a bad concept and can never go hand in hand.
If an investor does not have a clear idea, but only about their own interest (renting space to anyone), sooner or later this space will become an appendix of the city.

    Shopping malls - Centar Kaptol

by Nykaenen Updated Apr 22, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Our most modern shopping mall.
10 min on foot from Jelacic Square (walk up Tkalciceva street and it will be to your right).
Open daily 9:00-21:00, closed on Sundays.
Thursday is "long Thursday" meaning that you can shop till you drop (23:00)!

Apart from stores, Centar Kaptol is also home to a multiplex with the most modern cinemas in the city.

I like this mall for two reasons:
    1. because of the Londoner pub, my favorite nightlife spot
    2. it's only 10 min from where I live :-)
    .

What to buy: My favorite stores:
Marks & Spencer (the only M&S in Zagreb)
    Max & Co.
    Kookai.
There are many other stores selling Croatian and world known brands, but you can find those brands at several other locations in Zagreb as well.

    Shopping malls - Importanne

by Nykaenen Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The first shopping mall to have opened in Zagreb - before Importanne we had only department stores and small shops.
The whole Importanne is located under Starcevicev trg, i.e. below ground. Starcevicev trg is that square next to the main railway station (Glavni kolodvor).
Open daily 9:00-21:00, closed on Sundays.

I'm not particularly fond of Importanne - stores are rather small and the mall is difficult to orient at. Furthermore, despite there being zillion shoe shops, the choice is poor because most stores have the same supplier--silly if not stupid!!!

You'll find Importanne always crowded, but for the wrong reason - people go there to warm up since the main railway station is yet to be modernized and become home to good bars.

What to buy: The only store worth visiting is Guliver. Ironicaly, it's a shoe shop, but their shoes are of peculiar design and good quality (the price is adequate to quality, he he). You can find another Guliver store in Importanne Galleria, the sister mall of Importanne.

    Malls: Kaptol Centar

    by lana82 Written Jan 13, 2006

Mall situated in the center of the city. Most shops are pretty pricy cause the brands are exclusive, but not too exclusive. Besides all kinds of cloth shops, there is a supermarket, cinemas, japanese and french restaurant, cafes and wine bar (popular at night with "high society" younger crowd). On http://www.centarkaptol.hr/ click lokali on the left to see the ful list of shops.

What to buy: Buy whatever you like, the prices are not higher than in other countries, maybe you come across a good bargain.

Stylish and sophisticated, Avenue Mall is just the right size to indulge in shopping, entertainment and fine food.

What to buy: Don't miss the kava (coffee) 'happy hour' at Metropolitan Bar before 12pm Monday to Friday. The cafe is located left from the main entrance of the mall.

Remember the short funicular ride that I didn't take ? Well, it was situated in on a street called Ilica.
This is Zagreb main shopping area. Clothes, accessories, housewares, computer softwares etc are available here. There's a big departmental store called Nama.
This area is near Trg Jelacica Square.

    You should see this funicular
