Temel Reis Restaurant: If You Feel Like Eating Doner Kebap...
Pinat profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pinat 296 reviews

Temel Reis is the Turkish name for the cartoon character "Popeye". Temel is also a common name for man in Northern Turkey. The owner of the restraunt is called Temel and his restaurant is Temel Reis Restaurant.

The restaurant is located in the middle of Famagusta with a big and nice garden. The service is nice and fast. It is one of the oldest restaurants of Famagusta and highly appraised by the locals.

Their dishes are quite big, I mean, really big. You can easily guess this as you can order half of whatever you see on the menu. What I ordered as half was pretty big as well.

Favorite Dish: Chicken Doner Kebap

Ezic Restaurant: For an Elegant Dinner in Famagusta
Pinat profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pinat 296 reviews

If you are in Famagusta and want to have an elegant dinner, you do not have many options. My husband and I spent more than a month here and believe me, we have tried all restaurants in the city center.

Ezic Restaurant is the newest and the most elegant one among all the restaurants in Famagusta. They have a really long menu, including salads, pizzas, all kinds of steak, kids menus and a wide range of alcohol.

As there are not many options in the city, please note that the restaurant gets pretty crowded after 8pm during weekends.

Favorite Dish: Chicken Isabella with Kavaklidere Okuzgozu (Red Wine)

Can-Bulat Bufe: If you feel like eating lamb...
Pinat profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pinat 296 reviews

The place seems to be pretty casual but highly favoured by the locals and regular tourists of Famagusta. The owner is a really nice man and if the place is not really crowded, he offers Turkish coffee free of charge. Plus, he somehow guesses pretty well what kind of music his customers like and tunes his radio channel accordingly. Cool, right?!?

Favorite Dish: Although we've been there several times, I always preferred to eat the great lamb dish served with salad, yoghurt, rice and grilled pepper so I don't know the tastes of other dishes Can-Bulat Bufe offers. Aside from lamb, you can eat beef, chicken, adana kebap and other kinds of grilled meat.

Mezze-Ra: Yummy Food
Pinat profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pinat 296 reviews

If my husband was not working close by, we'd have never discovered this small (they have four tables only) restaurant and its nice owners. Ran by a friendly Turkish couple, Mezze-Ra offers a wide range of tastes, from great breakfast options to local Turkish cuisins (kebaps) from regular toasts to various vegetable dishes.

They also bring anything you like to anywhere you like in Famagusta. Just a phone call away...

Favorite Dish: Breakfast plates. Why? Cuz they are huge and tasty.

Vegetable plates. Why? Cuz they taste so Mediterranean.

Kebaps. Why? Cuz they are really well prepared.

petek: cakes & puddings & sweets & more

a difficult choice...

Heaven on earth when sweets are concerned... Petek is a large teahouse serving all sorts of sweets that you can dream of... and salty snacks, too. The teahouse is divided in two parts, one where you can choose your treaties, a long hall with a delightful wooden interior, and one where you can have tea/coffee and your sweets - with a lovely fountain in the centre.

Favorite Dish: We had a cheese burek - wonderful and huge - and some sort of mohallabia-like dessert, which proved to be excellent. There is a large selection of chocolates, too.
