The last buses from Protaras and Ayia Napa in winter tend to be 6 pm. The drivers will drive as quickly as possible to get to their destination - and as a result often leave earlier than they are supposed to. Out of the main tourist season, buses do not run on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Brochure Descriptions

Be careful when looking in holiday brochures for accomodation. Some properties in the Kapparis or Paralimni areas are actually listed as Protaras. They are quite a distance away - a bus ride in day time and a taxi ride in the evening.
Roadworks And Diversions
by cheekymarieh
There are a lack of good pavements everywhere. Road surfaces tend to be very uneven too - due to the number of times they seem to have been dug up recently. Also when there are diversions in operation they can involve massive detours ... or driving across waste ground.
A Way To A Hospital Stay

Tempting as it may be DO NOT HIRE A MOPEDMany are deathtraps. You may be lucky and get one with brakes but you may have to do without lights! When hiring a moped, they won't automatically give you a helmet. It's worth remembering that the police have just started to clamp down - especially on tourists. If you are tempted to use one, there is a very good private hospital, the Lito, in Paralimni although if your injury is serious you will be sent to Larnaca or Nicosia!
Morning Calls
by cheekymarieh
Try and make sure that you are not staying (or living) near to a church. The services start very early on a morning and if you are very close your sleep may be disturbed. The doors of the church are usually open in summer - so if you live as close as I did you can hear the bells followed by the 7am service every Sunday morning.
