For a quiet night around town, wear some comfortable shoes and walk the little narrow lanes looking out for unexpected pleasures. All lit up, we enjoyed the sights of the old harbour and castle (the most evident places of interest) but also the icon museum (formerly a church) and a very charming little mosque. It's traffic-free and very relaxing.
When you are tired, return to the old harbour and let the nargileh cafe find its way to you. I don't remember the name of the place, but it's a detail of little significance... the place is located towards the castle and its aroma is everywhere in the air... You can choose nargilehs of many difference flavours, although I stuck to my old favourite, green apple... and you can have drinks and coffee there, too - including some powerful Cypriot rakis.

A little cafe I recommend is located at the (Eastern) entrance of the harbour, right after the old building on your left when arriving to the harbour (this building was the old custom office during British colony times). The cafe is called "Boaters" and the owner Omer payed quite an attention on little details to create a unique cafe bar. They offer a wide range of flavoured coffees of the British Boaters brand.

Another place to go for thouse who like "alaturca" entertainment with live, mainly Turkish music is the Cafe Harbour. I don't like the place because I do not like that kind of entertainment, and the place is not clean enough to my opinion. The place is owned by two brothers, Reshat and Salih, who own 4 or 5 spots in the harbour. To my opinion, their places are best for sititng outside and having a coffee or a drink. Cafe Harbour provides live music (one guitarist and one singer generally) ouside during the evening hours, before the the "party" commences inside. This place unfortunately installed a huge TV screen to attract football lovers on match evenings...:(

The lovely harbour area of Kyrenia offers plenty of open air cafes, bars and generally average restaurants. One of the best places to go there is Cafe 34, the first decent cafe bar in Kyrenia opening long years ago. It is situated in the corner of the harbour walkway, providing a nice overlook over both the wings of the walkway (good for people who like to see and to be seen). Cafe 34 has a very quality music system (Bose). You will find common international drinks, small bites, cakes, etc. Crowded on weekends during summertime by relatively young clientele (14 - 18 mostly). In wintertime it is lovely to sit inside right behind the large windows, watching the calm harbour in the rain and listening to decent music in the background.

I'm talking about Karaoke, of course!
Villa Swallow is a charming restaurant/bar that is owned and run by a British couple.
The place has a sincere atmosphere with a game room at the back (pool table, darts board, playstation, etc.).
On Fridays, they have the Karaoke night. They provide you with an extensive list of songs which you could choose from. It's a real fun experience, especially when you get everybody in there cheering for you (even when you suck at it)!

Roxanne's is one of the most popular nightlife spots in the North. The place serves as a grill/bar. And from 11pm onwards, with the help of DJ music, the crowd turns into a loud-cheering, dancing mass.
The lack of a dancefloor makes Roxanne's atmosphere more sincere, though it might make you feel suffocated during special days like New Year's Eve.
The DJ would play everything from 70s hits to trance songs, teasing you with oriental tunes in between. It's always fun to guess what will come the next ;-)
When it comes to fancy drinks, finding a bar to serve you something that looks and tastes like what you ordered is a difficulty in Cyprus. Being in business for a while now, Roxanne's seem to have got a hang of it. So don't worry much when you order cocktails listed on the board above the bar.
Another entertaining thing about Roxanne's are the Doors and Guns'n'Roses memorabilia that adorn the walls.
Dress Code: No Sneakers. No Coat and Tie requirement but people usually dress-up, like everywhere else in Europe.
