Just a very nice, reasonably-priced and friendly restaurant on the harbourside.
My tour group ate here one night........the food was lovely. And we stopped there for lunch one day too: the best moussaka I have ever eaten.
I stopped several times for a coffee/beer, because the harbourside tables are ideal for people and boat-watching. And there are several beautifully-groomed, very happy and very friendly cats who will join you (if you wish).
Prices are average, food is good, English is spoken, staff are friendly and efficient...location is superb.

Address: Harbourside.
This has been one of the most successful, popular restaurants in Kyrenia for many years. Famous for metzes and grilled food - try to get a table not too close to the grill! Wonderfully tasty lamb. Service, presentation and quality were excellent, with an atmosphere to match.
N.B. Update April 2009
Niazis is celebrating 60 years of successful business, and has opened new restaurants & cafes on the island. The new website shows it very much as it was on my first vist 10 years ago, allowing for refurbishment in the intervening years !
There are lots of pictures of the restuarant and sample menus.
Favorite Dish: Quality fresh food, well prepared and much of it cooked in front of you. I particularly enjoyed the lamb dishes.
Delicious deserts.

A really enjoyable experience! The weather was great, so we decided to stay out and eat instead of going inside to the restaurant. The terrace/patio part was great; it had awesome views directly to the Kyrenia main harbour. I almost forgot to eat every now and then as I was looking around and taking pictures all the time. It is said that the Kyrenia harbour is the most beautiful one in the whole Cyprus.
Beautiful nicely painted buildings, boats and sailing boats, old fort from the 15th century - just so beautiful. And the restaurant was not expensive at all - if we would have been e.g. in France and had such a view from our table, it would have been extremely expensive. This is what I like in the Mediterranean countries; usually the restaurants do not charge from the views and the restaurants with sea views are not more expensive. The sea is everywhere!
The staff was very friendly. This was our first touch to the muslim world ever (February 2004). We got a very positive picture.
Favorite Dish: I had a mixed kebab - portion (not from paper; this is not a snack bar nor a fast food place) which was properly served from a plate and eaten with a knife and fork. The food was typical Turkish food, which is more spicy and tasty here and Turkey than in other countries (always local food is the original and the best).

Everyone, including the hotel owner, insisted that the best seafood restaurant in town was the Set Restaurant... so we went there. We liked the setting, a few steps above the old harbour and marina, meaning that you do not have people walking by and staring into your plate while you are eating. The food, however, was so bad that we ended up not eating...
Favorite Dish: We ordered a grilled tuna kebab, thinking no one can ruin tuna - but they succeeded... First of all it was not grilled but cooked in a pan, with plenty of oil (still, when confronted, they insisted this is the way everyone grills) and secondly it was overcooked - big hard chunks of tuna that had lost all their taste and juices...

Amarettois a simple place with honest unpretentious food - not fantastic but not bad either. As I found food in Cyprus to be quite bad in general, this simple eatery deserves my thums up. it is located inside Girne's old bazar.
Favorite Dish: I believe we had a veggie pie (tell them if you don't want fries) a very some excellent freshly squeezed orange juice.

We loved this restaurant as it was right on the sea front, waves lapping. There are a load of peanuts for you to eat and a hole in the table to dump the shells. The service is quick and it is very family friendly, staff are great.
Favorite Dish: My husband had the lamb chops and he got loads of them, too much to be honest and I had the Spaghetti Bolognese, one night and the curry another night.

The Hideaway Club is actually a hotel but nonresidents are always welcome to use their facilities and eat from their menu.
There is a great choice of food, from snacks such as Club sandwiches, Burgers and pitta pockets to international and traditional Cypriot main meals.
3 nights a week there is also a 3 course set menu on offer sometimes with entertainment at only £10 a head.
The set menu offered when we were there was a kleftico night, which was a soup starter, delicious kleftico lamb coked in the clay oven (that just fell off the bone!!) for main course and cake for desert. On sundays, there is a Set tradional Roast dinner menu and a friday nights were BBQ evening with a belly dancer!
They have a wonderful Roof Terrace for outdoor dining with fantastic views of the kyrenia coastline or alternatively an indoor air conditioned bar / restaraunt area. The hideaway club really does have great food at reasonable prices and definitley worth a visit if you are in North Cyprus! Great for cocktails too!!!
Favorite Dish: The Hideaway Special Burger is not to be missed!!!!

This restaurant is located within the fomer Turkish quarter of Kyrenia, in an old house with a lovely garden attached. During winter you enjoy dining in a very cosy atmosphere with a large log fire, during summer you will sit outside in the lovely and romantic garden, nicely decorated with many local objects and with a wonderful illumination.
The prices of the dishes are clearly above average, but it's really worth it! There is no other restaurant in North Cyprus serving such artistic and tastful creations, a dining experience beyond any average! In addition to the standard menu they always offer some outstanding specials, in accordance with availability of ingredients. Wide range of drinks, and friendly staff!

This restaurant is located directly next to La Famiglia, in a nicely restored old carob warehouse. You may sit in front of the restaurant outside, or on its roof area, overlooking all the area.
The restaurant has a large menu with international dishes, also including some Asian food and also escargots (snails). Quality of food is suprisingly good, but the service could sometimes be a little bit more friendly. Together with the La Famiglia, this restaurant provides the best standard in the harbour area.

Another place to go to especially for fish and seafood mezes is the Set Restaurant, located on the little set in the harbour. Good fish generally, and nice Turkish and Cypriot mezes; overlooking all the harbour scene.
