For those of us who live in climates where citrus fruits do not grow there is nothing, nothing like the taste of citrus fruits in their own land.
Those exported to us in the UK simply do not have anywhere near the flavour.
There are oranges, satsumas, clementines, lemons, red grapefruit, ordinary grapefruit......all are superb.
Just don't be tempted to cheat the system and pick from trees planted along town roads or in parks.....they are usually bitter oranges (like those used for maramalade), planted for their heavenly scent. That's why the fruit is left to rot!
But citrus in season is available everywhere, at low prices.......wonderful stuff, not to be missed.
Enjoy!

As Kyrenia/ Girne is now the major town of the Turkish occupied sector of the island, it is solely inhabited by Turkish Cypriots and Turkish settlers and the currency the use is Turkish liras.
If you come from the South, the official Cypriot pound can also be used in most establishments, the locals will apply a more or less acceptable exchange range.
What to pay: Prices are considerably lower than those of Greek Cypriot Cyprus.
