The Bellapais Gardens Hotel Restaurant is situated immediately beneath the walls of Bellapais Abbey and has a stunning view down to the coast. We experienced superb food and excellent service on the two evenings that we went there.
Lemba: A super small restaurant in Lapta
by MikeBird
This small restaurant located on the top of the village of Lapta, west of Girne is based in the bottom half of the owner's house. They also have a wide patio which would have terrific views over the village and the coastline. My guess would be they use this in the summer but as we were there in late October all the tables were moved inside. It's a very friendly, small family run place. You can guarantee freshly cooked food of Cypriot origin. The second night we went we had arranged with the owner to have the special fish which he'd bought in specially for us. Unfortunately I can no longer remember its name but it tasted great and the meal and ambience was superb. Our 3 teenagers liked the food and were well looked after. My daughter was impressed with the paper flower folded from her napkin by the waiter. All in all we had two really great meals there. The added bonus was that we could...
Various: Various restaurants in Kyrenia
by thewrightfamily
We have three favourites:- Niazis- Carob - EfendiThere are two Niazis with virtually identical menus. The upmarket Niazis is the one near Rocks Hotel. It is usually crowded. It has an open BBQ inside the restaurant. The one we go to is slightly out of town on the road towards the Jasmine Court. It is very reasonable at less than ten pounds per head. Any main course kebab [try the full mixed kebab] includes pitta, the salad bar, kebab, rice and chips - a whole meal. We have never had dessert. We recommend Niazis for its good value. The Carob Cafe is one of the many restaurants facing the harbour. It is in an old carob warehouse. It has two roof terraces. Prime tables are on ther upper roof facing the harbour. There is a set menu at 35 Turkish Lira [in 2006] or a la carte. The set menu is three course; meze or soup, a choice of main coursees and a choice of desserts. We came here twice in...
hilltop restaurant: food and a view
by skanda
this restaurant is located on top of a hill in Lapta. The view from the terrace is amazing. The walk towards the restaurant can be exciting because of the lack of streetlights! Bring your own!
Ask for mezzedes. The table will soon be filled with small samples of every dish they serve. Don't order a main dish untill you have eaten the mezze. There might not be room for it!
Niazi's: Try the Full Kebab
by XenosUK
Niazi's seems to be the most popular restaurant in Kyrenia and rightly so. It was full every night we were there, even though it was December. We ate fairly early (7.30-ish) and managed to get a table on both the evenings we visited, but I think it would be necessary to book in advance in the summer season or if you wanted to eat later. The food is mostly cooked on the huge grill in the middle of the dining room and we thought it was excellent. Staff are friendly and attentive.
The house speciality is the "full kebab", which consists of about 8 different types of mezes which are served all at once and then various different types of meat and grilled haloumi cheese are served directly on to your plate from the grill as and when they are ready. Everything was delicious and by the end of the meal we were so stuffed that we were glad when the grillman stopped serving us more meat. We did...

local restaurants near the town center: Real local food
by dd99
If you want to try eating in real local places (no English menu, no chicken kiev, no cheeseburger...) there is a cluster of 10-15 of them them hidden away in the center of town. The staff speak some English, but it would help to familiarise yourself with the names of some local dishes before you go.
Bellapais Gardens: Best steak in town!
by Profsmiley
Located in one of most beautiful places in the whole Cyprus, Bellapais Gardens restaurant offers excellent food matching its breathtaking scenery. It is situated on a cliff overlooking Kyrenia district. There is also a good view of the Bellapais Monastery. We were also quite happy with the service of the waitstaff. Personally I loved the area by the fireplace where you could enjoy an aperitif, or coffee & desert after your meal.
Pepper Steak, Steak with Mushrooms and the House Special all seemed to be prepared with care, and tasted delicious...
