    Haagan Daas: ice delight

by MrBill Updated Feb 28, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cypriots like to go out at night and drink coffee and smoke. Not everyone smokes, but on average, they smoke a lot. They also like their sweets.

Haagan Daas is open late until 01.00 on week nights and Sundays, and until 02.00 on Fridays and Saturdays. It has a nice laid back atmosphere and it is open to the street. I see this as a disadvantage due to the noise, but Cypriots like to see who is cruising up and down the seafront while they are drinking their coffee, smoking cigarettes and gossiping.

Haagan Daas does mainly ice creams and other sweet desserts, however they also have some snacks, too. The main attraction for many are the specialty coffees. They are not cheap, but within the reasonable range by Cyprus standards. Expect to pay about CYP 2.00-2.50 ($4.5-5.50) for one of their deluxe coffees.

Desserts start at this price as well and then go up from there in direct correlation with their calorie content. Do you really need them during beach season? ; - )

Dress Code: open from 10.00 until 01.00 weekdays and Sundays.
open from 10.00 until 02.00 on Fridays and Saturdays

    the basement club: Cheers!

Basement is located in the heart of Potamos Yermasoiyas and it's the must when spending a sparkling night in Limassol! It's good to keep in mind that the locals don't hit the clubs before the late hours(about2am). Music: 2step garage, chart music and house. Sometimes some of the world's best known djs throw a gig at basement(like Mauro Picotto in June 2003).We love the atmosphere in the club.Drinks were superb(about 3cyp+shot..depends who is ordering and who is mixing the drinks!) and the staff was soooo nice(they really got to know us after the nights we have spent in Limassol!)

    FloCafé: coffee culture

by MrBill Updated Feb 28, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cypriots love their coffees, especially their frappuccinos and ice coffees during the summer.

Whereas you will find the tourists in the bars during the summer, you will find the Cypriots in any number of the siewalk cafés at the foot of Makarios avenue and the sea front or in one of the coffee bars such as the FloCafé, Haagan Daas or Starbucks.

Prices for specialty coffees and drinks are a little steep. Expect to pay CYP 2.50 ($5.63) for a cappuccino of other deluxe coffee drink. However, your coffee is also served with a glass of water, so you can sip on it for quite a while and enjoy the ambience.

Dress Code: It makes a nice alternative to going to a bar or drinking anything alcolholic. Most of these coffee bars also serve food, but they remain a place to sip coffee, and to see and be seen. In some of the trendier coffee shops, don't expect the waitstaff to be overly friendly. That is also part of the atmosphere. The waitstaff have to be cool, too.

    relax & get your fix

"Colours Cafe Patisserie": Trendy Café Patisserie –Offering Sweet Sensations!

by greekcypriot Written Feb 4, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

With the latest renovations the Colours Café has been turned into a casual and very trendy spot. I was here during renovations on my last trip and now that I am visiting it again it has a completely fresh look and style. It is a popular meeting spot for locals and the perfect place to relax and enjoy an outing with friends or family, although the majority of customers I came across were young.

The culinary skills of the head pastry Chef Hadjiyiannis offer sweet sensations.

For the ones with a sweet tooth desserts are heavenly. There is a new long list of amazing flavours of ice cream, pies, pralines, mousses and all kinds of other sweet temptations. Portions are huge and they are fairly priced.
    Staff –very helpful.

    Cafe Brio: Coffee Delights

    by TallPaul13 Written Oct 12, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cypriots are connoisseurs of great coffee. They drink it often and in many different ways from many a different local coffee shops. In Limassol alone there are three Starbucks coffee shops, there are cities in America with less than that. In Limassol there is a particular restaurant that also serves a great coffee, named Cafe Brio. The restaurant is located in the back corner of the Hallmark Complex, Georgiou A Street, 4047, Limassol, Cyprus. They have a art deco style upscale decor with a great cuisine. I have only enjoyed the after dinner desserts and the best coffee that I have ever tasted. There desserts are exquiste ranging from Tiramasu to Chocolate Souffle as well as others. The coffee is also out of this world good. I usually get a Cappucino or a cold Frappe, that are succulent to my taste buds. The propertiers are both professional and friendly especially the lovely Persian hostess whose beauty is beyond compare in my humble adoration. If you want an exceptional after dinner coffee along with a scrumptious dessert, I recommend that you bypass the normal Starbucks and head over to the small corner of coffee paradise named Cafe Brio.

Limassol old town: Limassol old town

by Judd Written Aug 26, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The old town of Limassol is often missed my most visitors, who usually stay in the Tourist Area of Galatex. The area around the castle is really old and contains lots of cool bars and coffee shops where many Cypriots hang out.

The architecture is typical Mediterranean, with the narrow, windy streets and stucco houses. Just be careful, becuase the drivers do tend to speed and with the narrow roads, it may be a bit hazardous if you've had one too many ouzos.

Dress Code: The Cypriots like to dress in black - both the guys and girls. But you don't have to get too fancey, as this is a laid back place.

Limassol strip of Potamos Yermasoyias: Bars & Clubs

by gigina Written Nov 25, 2007

This resort strip is defined by its main drag Yeoryiou tou Protou, has the expected complement of foreign orientated bars and clubs, most of which close down on the off-season. Town centres venues tend to have much greater patronage from locals, and stay open all year. There's a scattering of gay or at least gay-frienndly clubs among them.,.
