The dams are stocked with 17 species of fish. The most popular are: Trout, largemouth bass, carp, Tike perch, Roach, etc. Sixteen dams in Cyprus provide excellent fresh-water fishing opportunities throughout the year. These can be found:

Lefkosia District

Kafizes dam: 78km (48 miles), from Lefkosia. Northeast of Troodos mountain.
Kalopanagiotis dam: 70km (44 miles) from Lefkosia. Southwest of Troodos.
Lympia dam: 22km (14 miles) from Lefkosia. East of Lefkosia town.
Palaichori dam: 39km (24 miles) from Lefkosia on the North slopes of Adelphoi mountains.
Xyliatos dam: 45km (28 miles) southwest of Lefkosia town.

Lemesos District

Germasogeia dam: 10 minutes drive. North of Lemesos town.
Kourris dam: 25 minutes drive. Northwest of Lemesos town.
Prodromos dam: 4km (2,5 miles) from (Olympos) Troodos mountains square.


Larnaka District

Dipotamos: 30 minutes drive east of Kato Lefkara.
Lefkara dam: Near Lefkara village. 40km (25 miles) west of Lefkosia town.
Kalavasos dam: 40km (25 miles) northeast of Lemesos.
Aradipou: 8km (5 miles) northwest of Larnaka.

Pafos District

Asprokremmos dam: 16km (10 miles) east of Pafos town.
Mavrokolympos dam: 11km (7 miles) northeast of Pafos town.
Evretou dam: 30 minutes drive south of Polis.


Ammochostos District

Achna dam: 25km (16 miles) northeast of Larnaka town.

According to the revised Fisheries Law Cap, 170 of 1990, the Fisheries Regulations of 1990, Regulation
12, special licenses must be obtained for those interested in angling in dams from: the Head Office of Fisheries Department in Nicosia, or from the District Offices of Fisheries Department.
Licenses are personal and are issued to persons over 12 years old.

Call to find out about the fee you have to pay. All licenses issued, expire by the end of each year. Also group licenses are issued to organized groups after application of the representative of the interested group. This license is valid for not more than 14 days.

The Fisheries Department sells a booklet with coloured pictures of all fish found in the reservoirs and useful information to the anglers.
Licenses are valid only with the dam is declared open by the Director of the Department of Fisheries.
