    Panoramic view of Palaichori

by greekcypriot Updated Apr 12, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Get some panoramic views of the village from up the hill where the statue of the Cypriot Mother is.

Gaze over the moutain peaks of the Papoutsa, the mountain hideout of Afxentiou and his 17 men. Overlook the narrow streets of Palaichori, where Afxentiou walked together with over 130 members of EOKA, PEKA and ANE ( the EOKA youth organization) of Palaichori.

Meet the couple who gave shelter to Afxentiou

I have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Andrea and Maritsa Karaoli, the people who offered refuge to Afxentiou. They have given their house to the Council of Historic Memory of the Struggle 1955-59 (EOKA).

I have two photos. The one is their wedding photo and the other is how they look today.

The Statue of the Cypriot Mother

by greekcypriot Updated Apr 12, 2011

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The statue of the Cypriot Mother is situated on high ground overlooking towards the whole village.

There are stairs leading upwards, but be careful because they can be very slippery on a rainy day.
