Packing List

Something extra large if you are like me! Any footwear that you bring with you will get very dusty. High, thin heels are hazardous in a country where some of the pavements can be poor. My friend Pete will vouch for the fact that on a 5 day visit I arrived with 6 pairs of shoes. He looked in horror when he saw them all! I took even more when I was working over there. Bring lots of high factor sun cream with you. You will need it in summer. Also bring lots of after sun. Don't forget your makeup (especially the concealer) as it can be quite costly in the resort areas and it is also difficult to find some of the more well known brands that I am used to in the UK. (In an emergency head to Woolworths in Nicossia). Other toiletries on the other hand are a comparable or lower price than in the UK. Films and develoment costs are higher than in the UK. If you want reprints though they work out...

Normal suitcases soft or hard if you go to the main resorts. If in the mountains a rucksack will do. Cyprus is warm so if you have good legs take your shorts and your sunglasses a big rimmed hat and your factor 15 sun cream. All stuff can be bought.

Cyprus is sunny all along though it gets a little chilly in the winter. It snows up in the mountain. Bring light clothings especially during the summer! It gets really hot! However, if you intend to visit the mountains do bring along a jumper, it gets chilly at night!

Dont take much clothes with you during the hot season.During day time you anyway spend most of your time on the beach or pool and even if not you still dont need much just light short clothes, and some clothes for going out at night.

Rucksack, bum bag, In general the weather was great, not a drop of rain in the whole 2 weeks. The evenings were just perfect,Shorts if you like or light trousers.A trip to the Troodos may require a sweat top or jumper. Mozzy's can be a pain, but if you buy one of those plug in thingy's you should be o.k. in doors. I like to take my 35mm Minolta because I get much better photo's than my digital.I just take a 200mm zoom/macro lens and a wide angle.I buy my film at home and also batteries. a good sun hat! A travel iron is a good buy, (it dont matter how well you pack your kit it allways seems to crease)

Half full suitcase. You will find a lot to fill the spaces! Family Travel A good suncream, as you will probably get burned. Take some talc to get rid of the sand after a trip to the beach. It really works.

Be a Traveler and not a Tourist - A Tourist is one that expects everything to be the way it is back home, and a Traveler accepts the challenges faced during travel which makes each country that he or she has traveled unique.

A normal size suitcase is plenty if you are going in the summer months ie May to September, you don't need to take a coat as it is very warm in the evenings. No real special clothing is nessesary, only good strong boots if you are planning to go walking in the mountains, Cyprus is a very hot and dry country so you dont need many clothes at all. Plenty of sun tan cream is all you need and possibly some insect repellent in the evenings for the mosquito's. Photographs can be developed there at a reasoable price, batteries and film can be found in most shops.

Smart casual for evening, bathing costumes, shorts and tops.sandals. If you go to any churches men must wear long trousers and women must wear skirts. plenty of sun screen, the sun is very strong.Don't drink the tap water or have ice cubes.PLEASE GO TO TRAVELOGUE
