As usual, the taxis in a tourist area are there to make as much cash as possible from the punters. If you do not know how much it is, they will work you for an extra poind or two. The best deal around Paphos is the local bus. Most are airconditioned, and the fare is only 50P. Most of the drivers are helpful, though one or two are a bit crochety. They do not run on a schedule, but eventually one will show up. there are only a limited amount of routes, so it is not hard to get around. Paphos to Coral bay is the 10 or 15 bus, but cab it is a minimum 8 pounds, though some will try to charge 10 - 12 pounds. The cash adds up quickly. The cheapest taxis in Coral Bay is the Coral Beach taxi company. They were consistenly 2 pounds less expensive than all the others, though somtimes you had to help with directions. The Bus stop. by cazz38 Because we were quite a way out from the Town and Harbour we used the bus alot.In Paphos you have to pay the driver and its the same price about 70 cents to go anywhere, whether its for the next stop or five.We thought it was good value for money. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

You can hire a car really easily in Paphos. For us, the fact that Cypriots drive on the left was a real incentive to hire a car. Hiring a car cost roughly between 12 and 20 cypriot pounds a day.Our hire company charged an extra 20 pounds for a full tank of petrol. There are loads of car hire places, although some look a bit dodgy Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Not a major road! by leics You do really need a car if you want to explore further than the town limits. There are plenty of daytrips, of course, and they are good value. But the bus service is rather limited, and local buses non-existent after about 1800. Plenty of car hire places, as one would expect. But do watch out for the usual add-ons: CDW, EDW, waivers here and there. And check out the condition of the vehicles, and what provision they have for breakdowns etc. Oh, and the rather clever scam (it seems to me) of charging you for a whole tankfull of petrol, refunding the cost only if you pay by credit card and even then taking off a 'refuelling charge'!! They all do it though, so no firm is going to be any better than another from that point of view. As for the driving, it's on the left so easy for a Brit! Even major roads can have pretty bad potholes though, and the locals (as everywhere) merrily break the speedlimits; I just pulled over and let them fly past. Speed limits off the motorway are quite low anyway: 80kph max (around 50mph), but there are police with speed cameras dotted about. It's worth keeping an eye open and your speed down (and reduces the risk of a puncture from the potholes). Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Cypriot transport! by freya_heaven Paphos is not a large town, but it is a bit spead out. We walked, used local buses & hired a car for a while to get us further afield to the troodos mountains etc. If you dont want to drive there, there are plenty of travel agents with organised tours to places. Sunset at Coral Bay by piersend The bus service to and from Paphos to Coral bay is very good, there are 2 different bus services - one goes to just Paphos Harbour (Kato Paphos) and the other one goes to the harbour and then up into the town centre. All buses to Coral Bay goes through the main drag then on to the beach. The cost is 50c each way-very resonable. Each bus route runs about every quarter of an hour and goes on till late at night (so you can have a few drinks)! Leave a Comment Theme: Bus
