adventuremad Says:  LATCHI WATERSPORTS CENTRE, located just down the road from polis and paphos is where we had the most fun on our holiday, we hired a 250hp speedboat for a day and it was amazing, we was given a map briefing of the amazing akamas coastline, then some instructions on how to...

Boat Trip

Boat Trip, Polis

HollieHolden Says:  The boat trips leaving from the nearby town Latchi are really enjoyable. The boat trips generally last a day travelling along the north coast of the Akamas Peninsula. At lunchtime the boat is moored in a turquoise cove where you are free to snorkel or relax on the boat and...

Various: Good restaurants, Polis

fourleafclover73 Says:  We particularly like to seek out restaurants which offer local cooking- most places do world dishes so you can get non local food if you want it, but we always want to eat the authentic dishes. The best restaurants we found were Archontariki (see separate review), Finikas...

Archontariki: Best Restaurant Options-Polis

Archontariki: Best Restaurant Options-Polis, Polis

fourleafclover73 Says:  This was our favourite restaurant in the town of Polis- it was a 2 minute stroll from our apartment and a 3 minute walk from Polis square! All the food we ate here was excellent- we sample the garlic prawns, humous , olives and dolmades as starters, and the kleftiko, stuffed...

Elanoa Snack Bar: Drink with a view

Elanoa Snack Bar: Drink with a view, Polis

stevieUK Says:  Never eaten the snacks but a great place to sit, have a cold beer (cheap) plus nibbles and enjoy the view. Friendly owner, very relaxed and cheap bar. Cold Lager!

Arsinoe: Fish Restaurant

Arsinoe: Fish Restaurant, Polis

stevieUK Says:  Great selection of fresh seafood plus good wines at reasonable prices.Better than any of the Latchi fish restaurants in my opinion. All good. Ask to see the fish before deciding what you want - they'll happily walk you through the fresh seafood they've got in that day.

Moustakallis: Traditional

Moustakallis: Traditional, Polis

stevieUK Says:  Restaurant has been here since the year dot. Local people running the restaurant.Traditional Greek Cypriot cooking. BBQ meat dishes and the Kleftiko. Great jacket potatoes.

Great Butchers: Barbequeue, Polis

stevieUK Says:  A definite must if you get the chance is a BBQ - great butchers (and cheap) next to the Bakers and opposite the football 'stadium' on the road out of Polis towards the Go Carting track. Can plan ahead as well unlike Britain where it usually ends up raining. Some nice...

Exploring Cyprus by hiring a car

Exploring Cyprus by hiring a car, Polis

greekcypriot Says:  If you plan driving to Akama/Aphrodite trail have in mind that you should hire a 4X4 jeep and not a saloon car because you cannot make it otherwise. There are plenty of companies to choose from and make sure that there is insurance within the quoted price. If you plan to...

Car Hire

Car Hire, Polis

fourleafclover73 Says:  If you want to get out of Polis and see the island- do book a car before you go. We tried to get one whilst there and could not. This meant it was really difficult to get around outside of Polis itself.

Possibly the friendliest garage in the world

Possibly the friendliest garage in the world, Polis

stevieUK Says:  The guys at EKO petrol station must be the happiest workers I've ever come across given that they are working in boiling hot weather surrounded by exhaust fumes. I always make a point of filling up there just in case they are having a bad day and I catch them being less...

Best supermarket in Polis (or Latchi) is the co-op as you exit Polis on the Latchi Road.
However you get better fruit and veg plus some UK foods you can't at the Co-Op from a small supermarket (one of many but this is the best) just off the main square opposite the barbers.
For a really decent supermarket you need to go to Pathos (one on RHS as you go into the town from the main Polis road).

Akamas Peninsular

Akamas Peninsular, Polis

stevieUK Says:  This ex UK army firing range provides and area free of the building they seem to be chucking up all over the islands at a rapid rate.About a mile past Laatchi from Polis turn off to follow the coast to the car park at Aphrodite. The Aphrodite cave is worth a quick look (its...

Go camping

Go camping, Polis

Katerpillar Says:  There is a campsite by the beach at Polis (just follow signs for the beach) which makes a nice getaway from the ultra-touristy areas of Cyprus. There isn't much to do and it gets crowded at the weekend with holidaying locals but the beach is pleasant and it's a good base to...

Location of Carting

On the outskirts of Polis is a carting track. Carts ok and not a bad course. Seem pretty generous about the time you get for you money once you've had a couple of goes.
Put on race nights regularly for those who fancy a bit of competition but is quiet a lot of the day for those who just want a quiet go with no one about.

Equipment: The usual variation in the Carts - still gives you something to blame if you get beat!
