  • There are so many restaurants to choose from it is best to try a different one every day. Most of the hotels also serve dinner to non residents at very competitive prices.Try the set menu it usually works out cheaper than tha ala cart.
My advice is to try a different restaurant every day there are so many to choose from and it is very reasonable to eat out.

Try the Cypruus MEZE which is a selection of hot and cold fish and meat dishes and dips usually served with hot pitta bread. It is quite delicious!

There are restaurants to suit every taste and every pocket.
Apart from the traditional Tavern’s where Cyprus meze and other local dishes are served, French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Lebanese Arabic, Thai and Mexican restaurants can also be found on the island. The quality of food is excellent and prices are reasonable.
'Meze' , a rich collection of more than 20 different appetizers and savouries.
'Tava', a lamb stew with plenty of onions and tomatoes
'Stifado', a stew of beef or hare, cooked with wine, vinegar, onion and spices.

The quality of Cyprus table-wines ranks with the best in the world and the great variety provides a match for every kind of food and every plate.

    Speciality of Cyprus.
    AFELIA:pork in red wine sauce
    AGRELIA ME AVGA:asparagus with eggs.
    CHTAPODI SKARAS: grilled octopus
DOLMADES: stuffed wine leaves KARAOLI VRASTI:snails

    KORIATIKI SALATA:Greek salad
    LOUKANIKA:sausages

  • The cost of the meal is fixed at under $20 per head, drinks extra. The food is cooked by a 5 star chef and the staff are extremely helpful.
On the whole a wonderful little restaurant well worth the visit. Best to book a table though!

The menu is a fixed five course meal that will satisfy anybody.

  • The staff are friendly, the food is inexpensive. But what makes this restaurant really stick out is the genuine interest in the customer.

The menu is just wonderful. It has such a varied choice and 'Everything' is fresh!

    Kato Paphos’ oldest taverna...

  • Kato Paphos’ oldest taverna (dating from 1971), Demokritos adds traditional Greek and Cypriot dances and live music to its evening menu, making dinner something of a spectacle. The atmosphere is as lively as you would expect and the food quality is up there with it.

Gourmets will particularly appreciate what Cyprus has to offer, as Cyprus cuisine consists of dishes very rich in taste, and unique in specialities.

Within the very large range of the Cyprus cuisine, three favourites are:

'Meze', a rich collection of more than 20 different appetizers and savouries.

'tava', a lamb stew with plenty of onions and tomatoes,

'stifado', a stew of beef or hare, cooked with wine, vinegar, onion and spices.

The products of local marine aquaculture, seabream (tsipoura), seabass (lavraki) and prawns (garides) are becoming popular among the cypriots and the tourists.

Cyprus wines, famous in antiquity and throughout the Middle Ages, are more than maintaining their tradition by becoming increasingly competitive in the International market. The quality of Cyprus table-wines ranks with the best in the world and the great variety provides a match for every kind of food and every palate.

Approximate costs for a bottle of Cyprus wine of 0,75 litre in a restaurant or a taverna: from C£2,50 - C£6,00.

  • Food and drink, especially Turkish Efes pilsner beer, is excellent and by UK standards very inexpensive. Fish is great and a lunch of fish and vegetable 'mezze' with wine or beer, for two, would cost, even overlooking Kyrenia harbour (prime tourist territory) about US$25. Turkish (not turkish Cypriot) red wine can also be of high quality.
