Politics !!

The Greeks on south will tell you North Cyprus is an occupied area...Wrong !The turkish soldiers are only there to protect the turks living there which Greeks wants to get rid of.. Anyone can come and go freely..friendly people, lot cheaper then Greek side.. You can go to South(Greek side) which is very much like,Paris,London or any big prosperous city,we got ambargo so not muchglamour on north side..

Larnaca Airport - Coffee

by Vivienneil

C£2.80 was charged for two cups of dirty luke warm dishwater that did not look or taste like it was any relation to coffee. Added insult it was not even served with a smile. When we complained we just got shrugged shoulders. The only unfriendly Cypriots we encountered. Take bottles of water or fizzy drinks with you, better still if you have a flask fill it before you leave resort. Or buy a carton of wine 1lt C£1 from resort supermarket. Visit the Duty Free, we thought the prices were pretty good.

Tony's Restaurant

by GordonKeenan

When you walk outside here and look at the menu, that's all that is needed for Tony to appear (a la Mr Ben) like magic and gentle patter you up to bring you inside. Once inside, getting your bill so you can leave is the real fun part of your evening. Watch out if you get asked if you want to join a quiz, as soon as you say YES, you then get charged 1.00 to take part!!! SOUND AS A POUND may be the phrase he uses, but COOL AND SLICK would be better. Enjoy the food as it is good, but make sure you take your time in everything you do and don't go at their pace. When you want to leave, be forceful and don't take “NO” for an answer. The Wooden Crest Inn will provide you with good quality food and drink, and at no time are you made to feel rushed or putting anyone out.

NEVER FALL IN THE TRAP.......

by andreasCY

NEVER FALL IN THE TRAP.... TURK'S AND SOME OTHER'S PROPAGANDA IS REALLY STRONG.. BUT CYPRUS IS ONLY ONE COUNTRY, HALF OCCUPIED BY TURKS... SURE THEY (TURKS) CAN SAY ANYTHING THEY WANT... HISTORY IS THERE THOUGH SPEAKING BY ITSELF.. NO COUNTRY IS CHANGING 'OWNERSHIP' (AS THEY CALL IT) AFTER A WAR..AND THE WAR WAS ONLY IN 1974... I STILL REMEMBER THE BOMBS AND THE BULLETS OVER OUR HEADS... AND SURELY WILL NEVER FORGET THEM...

by nefertitiuk

all operators in the area offer a day to egypt for £166 cyprus pounds per person.DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.ive been to eygpt and wanted to show my new husband the size of the last wonders of the world. if we had been allowed more than 15mins at the pyramids and more than 10 mins at the spynx then the rest may not have mattered, but the sunset cruise on the nile was delayed until 7.30pm due to ramadam and our tour or the mueseum was cut short to only half an hour, this was so that the reps had enough time to take us to papyrus shops and perfume and gold shops which were not advertised on the original poster.cheaper to get your own return flight and see the sights in your own time.

Just be careful of the taxi...

by Mark_Purdue

Just be careful of the taxi drivers. They are not all reputable taking people out of their way and demanding extortionate prices. Fix your price before you even get into the vehicle.Be careful with the car hire firms, even the well known companies. Not all of them believe in insuring the cars but they will still take your money. Make sure you have all your documentation with you incase you are stopped by the police.

by cyprus100

Don't go for food at the tourist restaurants at the center of 'Laiki Geitonia' in Nicosia. You will pay alot of money and the food is for tourists:-).Try the small places which sell Pitta Souvlaki and Gyro. Less money and better food.

Limassol

by tvdm

You may skip Limassol: there's an interesting fort and a nice boulevard (pic) here but that's about it. Still, many people visit the town as it's the main port of Cyprus and it has an extensive nightlife. The tourist area in on the east side of the town.

There are no real tourist traps in Ayia napa, the shop owners never hassle you to buy, they are all to friendly. The only trouble you may have is if you get to close to the Pelicans on Nissi Beach, they may try to peck at you. I had no trouble when i took this picture but you have been warned.

These guys gouge you with a smile on their faces. The prices are double or even more on their ice-cream and cold drinks. Don't buy from them unless you forgot your water bottle or are really 'dying' from lack of Ice Cream.
