by atw26 A good way to get around Cyprus is via the Travel Express shared taxi. However, they only provide the shared taxi service between the hours of 6am and 6pm! Prices (June 2005) for Mon-Sat are: Nicosia - Limassol: CYP 4.80 Nicosia - Larnaca: CYP 3.60 Nicosia - Larnaca Airport: CYP 4.80 Limassol - Larnaca: CYP 4.20 Limassol - Larnaca Airport: CYP 5.40 Limassol - Paphos: CYP 3.90 Limassol - Paphos Airport: CYP 5.10 Nicosia - Paphos: CYP 8.70 Add about CYP0.60 for Sundays and holidays. Note: there may be other shared taxi services but this one by far is the most known (and I take it once a week!) Leave a Comment

Highway to Nicosia by yurxlnc The highways are good and we found no problems, being used to driving on the left. The roadside is planted with trees and flowering plants. It only takes a couple of hours to get from Larnaka to Nicosia, and the scenery changes from time to time. It is more difficult when driving up into the mountain areas where roads are narrower and steeper, but they are also less crowded. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

PISSURI SEASIDE by stavlois TAKE A PLANE, HELIOS OR CYPRUS AIRWAYS OR BOAT FROM PIREUS IN GREECE. flight info as per may 2005 http://www.topkinisis.com/ This company is Olympic rep in Cyprus regarding direct flights sales. ONE WAY FLIGHTS: LARNACA / PAPHOS TO LONDON FROM £49 incl. taxes ALSO: LUTON, GATWICK, MANCHESTER, LEEDS, BIRMINGHAM, NEWCASTLE, EAST MIDLANDS, HUMBERSIDE For both flights and accomodations go to the mother company which is www.olympicholidays.co.uk if you go to Paphos ( Pafos ), then there is only one place to hire a brand new car/jeep or bike. this place is called Max-Rentals Tel +357-99-683222, managed by a real gentleman named Akis. he hires only clean and new cars at the best deals in town. he has e-mail as well. An SMS to his GSM phone will secure you a fuss-free hire around Paphos ( Pafos ) area. as summer gets very busy in Paphos area, make sure you book the right car 2-3 weeks in advanced. if you are young enough a bike is equally good choice. requirements: make sure you have a European valid license, wear your helmet and do not get drunk before you ride. remember that in Cyprus cars drive in left side of the road, bikes as well....... if you are Russian stay away from vodka. instead of vodka try the local divine spirit called zivania. drunk cold, LOEL or KEO are the best brands, very cheap and clear. remember drink only if your bed is within walking distance from the bar otherwise you will be engaged in an accident. this will spoil your and other people's holidays and smash your head and car. .......during WRC season, ask Alister Mcray and other champion drivers to take you for round inside the Troodos forest. He will take off your brains with his WRC car. Leave a Comment Theme: Motorcycle

topless model in yellow by MrBill Car rentals start at CYP 8 per day and insurance is CYP 3.50-5.00 extra. Make sure that your credit card covers your insurance if you decide to wave insurance, which the car rental company may insist is mandatory. Luxury cars, SUVs and cabriolets/convertables are naturally extra. My experience with a cabrio was as follows. Either it was too windy on the road or it was too hot. I baked in my car with temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius and the sun beaming down. Nevermind in summer when the temperature in over 40 degrees. I wore a hat and suncreen, but still ended-up getting a sunburn. And, it was quite a bit more expensive than a regular car with air conditioning. So, do what you like, but my advice is to rent a small car with air conditioning. I rented a Peugot 206 and it was more than adequate for Cyprus. The distances are not that great. It is only about 70 kms from one city to the next and it is only about 150 kms from one side of the island to the other. When you bring the car back make sure it is full of gas. You don't want to have to pay up to CYP 25 for refilling the tank when maybe all you need is CYP 10-15 to fill-up. Regular unleaded gasoline costs CYP 46 cents per liter. You will notice all rental cars have red license plates and that all Cypriot cars have yellow ones. I guess this is so other motorists can stay well clear of tourists that may not be used to driving on the lefthand side of the road? 1 CYP = $2.26 Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor HomePhone: www.cyprus-car-rentals.netWebsite: http://www.cyprus-car.com/ Other Contact: www.cyprus-car-rental.co.uk

Scooters in Agia Napa by wadekorzan If you want to see more than just one town and a couple beaches, if you want to travel around Cyprus, I would highly recommend renting a car. It is not too expensive and most roads are in good condition. If you are planning on just staying in one area like Agian Napa, for example, then you could rent scooters as most people do. Public transportation is not very good to get around the island and taxis are expensive and distances are far.... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

the old style still used in the Troodos Mtns. by MrBill I have never taken the bus or know anyone else that has taken the bus in Cyprus. Mostly we use taxis. However, there is a bus that runs between Limassol and Nicosia and it only costs CYP2.50 one-way versus a taxi which will cost approximately CYP25, CYP28 at night. Buses depart from the Municipal Market Park Place in Limassol and ends up in Nicosia at Solomos Square or vice versa. Buses run Monday through Friday from 06.00 until 17.30 departure. Saturdays from 07.00 until 14.00, and on Sundays starting at 09.00 until 17.30 departure time. It takes 45 minutes to drive from Limassol city limits to Nicosia city limits. The bus takes longer. A monthly bus pass costs CYP60-75. I have not found any information yet on other cities, such as Larnaca and Pafos where the international airports are located. However, I will try to post that information later when I have it. Thanks. $1 = 2.25 Cyprus pounds Leave a Comment Theme: BusPhone: +357 25 370 592 LimassolOther Contact: +357 22 778 841 Nicosia

by planxty If you haven't got your own transport, travelling can be a little bit tricky in Cyprus. There are no trains, and only limited buses serving the villages round the main centres (Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol). The only real option is the "taxis". Until a couple of years ago, these were huge stretch mercedes cars which could hold about eight people, but now minibusses seem to do the job. Actually, whilst the Mercs were quite fun, the air-con minibusses are more comfortable. They ply the routes between the main centres and are relatively inexpensive. If you can speak enough Greek you can get them to pick you up wherever you want (home etc.) but for the traveller it's probably easier to go to the office. They are relatively inexpensive. and pretty reliable. round town, the ordinary taxis are OK. the are virtually all white Mercs and have registration numbers beginning with T. by randhorn EuroCypria - it's a Cyprus based charter airline. AVOID IT! I have never experienced worse service, more rude flight attendants or less seat space in any other airline I have travelled with. It is by far the most horrible experience in the air. Leave a Comment

Louis Cruise Lines by MrBill A typical cruise from Limassol to Beirut leaves the new harbour in Limassol at 20.00 and arrives in Beirut at 08.00 the next morning. This way you sleep on the boat, and arrive the next morning in time to see the city, but without having to worry about a hotel. Then depending on how long you stay in Beirut, the boat leaves around 23.00 in the evening, and again arrives in Limassol at about 11.00 a.m. the next day. It is an easy way to see Beirut for a day. The cost is about CYP175 ($368) per person for a deluxe cabin, including meals on board. I personally found this a little too expensive, given that the accomodation and meals were adequate, but nothing special. However, you have to consider the price versus flying from Larnaca to Beirut - CYP100 - and then booking a hotel in Beirut for 2-nights? I am sure there are cheaper ways to see Beirut, but this is an easy way. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/BoatPhone: Tel: +357 25 570000Website: www.louiscruises.com Other Contact: downtown Limassol
