I havent been to the Czech...

by vadjutka

I havent been to the Czech Republic for too much time, just for a few days. We spent much of our time in Prague - which is a beautiful and exciting city, everyone should go there - and as we traveld back home we stopped at Lednice, where I saw the most beautiful castle, ever. (I think it beats Versaille - Sorry french boys and girls) One can even touch the spirit of the 18th century, its high point. And it has a huge and faboluos park with a lake, strange trees and flowers. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

by pavlag

Try a czech beer - its actually the czech town Pilsen (Plzen) which gave name to pilsner type of beer. Try czech dumplings (knedliky) with pork and cabbage (knedlo-vepro-zelo), such taste you will find nowhere else on the world. And if you are lonely - try us, czech girls, the women blood and milk as we say, the nicest and the warmest girls in the world (if you are a girl, just stay with beer and dumplings, czech boys are not worth a deeper look, even if many of them are ok :-)). The soul of the country. Czech Republic - name Bohemia I like more as it shows better where the bohemian come from - has lived under domination of different other countries (among others Germany, Austria and Hungary and Russia) but the heart of the nation has survived. Its a czech disposition to do quitely what's necessary for outside and think a one's mind inside and discuss it than over the beer or good (and...

Concert Hall

by iandsmith

When you are in Prague, you are in Mozart territory, which happens to extend to southern Germany and Austria. You can buy Mozart chocolates, Mozart postcards, Mozart shirts - you know where I'm heading with all this commercial crap! This however, is the opera house where some of his works were performed for the first time during the years he spent in Prague.

You must go the Cesky Krumlov....

by Jsemsquash

You must go the Cesky Krumlov. The castle there is just beautiful. May I also recommend swimming in the beautiful river which wraps around this area. Fresh water, very nice. Also, do not settle for food other than authentic Czech cuisine. I know there were some complaints from other tourists I met, but I absolutely would said eating Czech food is an essential part of getting to know the culture. Also, study the language before going...it help if you do not want to get ripped off...haha. (Watch those ice cream vendors) My fondest memory is meeting a really hot Czech driver, haha but that story is not very informative. The people there are great, very friendly. I really enjoyed the trip from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. The country side is magnificant. Plus...like I said before, the driver was really cute.

Buy a copy of 'The Good Soldier Svejk' by Jaroslav Hasek.Go to a beer hall or pub, order some fine Czech food, such as dumplings with pork and a beer.Once you have finished your meal read some of the book and keep drinking beer.Once you've had enough of beer, get yourself a glass of Becherovka to finish off with. You can't get anymore Czech then that! When entering the Czech Republic, the border post town was called 'Hate'.We all hoped it was'nt a hint of things to come in Prague.I still laugh at the stamp in my passport 'C.Rep Hate'

Take a walk up past the Hradcany castle complex to the convent sitting on the nearby hill. Best view of the Castle, river, and Stari Mastro. Early morning walks in the fog around the river area and especially the ambiance of the Charles Bridge before the crowds.

by prazacek

Try to visit some 'hockey' pub during some international ice hockey event. You'll see really wild celebrations and you'll see how much people there like that sport. The best place for watching ice hockey is Jagr Bar (owned by Jaromir Jagr, now playing for Washington Capitals in NHL).

Visit the capital Prague, beautiful south Bohemian castle town Cesky Krumlov, very interesting city Kutna Hora where is placed the most interesting and incredible morbid thing in whole Europe and maybe World - 40 000 human bones which makes marvelous chappel. There is also a big cathedral there - Santa Barbara Cathedral. I also recommend some of the castles, such as Hluboka, Cervena Lhota or some older ones such as Karlstejn (Bohemian crown is placed there) or Krivoklat. I also strongly recommend to visit city of Plzen (Pilsen) - the capital of beer :)) The Czech Republic - surrounded by mountains (highest point of elevation is 1 602 m. above sea level). Czech country is mostly hilly and it makes that very beautiful romantic place full of small villages and towns.

by M.C.W.

Kutna Hora is an interesting town, and an easy day trip from Prague. The ossuary there is somewhat macabre, but interesting none the less. If you are travelling by train from Prague, be sure to check the return schedule, or you may find yourself there a lot longer than is necessary.

visit the capital, Prague....

by Arvey

visit the capital, Prague. Prague is the most beautiful city of Central Europe. Most of the buildings in the Old Town are painted in pastel colours, which gives the city a happy look. In Prague, the old town and the old town square are worth visiting. Also the Prague Castle (Prazski Hrad) is worth a trip. Dining in a little restaurant in Prague, on the banks of the Vltava (Moldau), underneath the Karluv most (Charlesbridge) - very romantic and fairytalelike surroundings.
