Sedop taxi company
Favorite thing: Not favorite at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, I'm natrive Czech and still have to write this. I would recommend you not to use SEDOP taxi company in Prague. Most of their drivers charge much more and even if you complain to the company (you have the receipt), they try not to reply and if you insist on getting the answer they tell you to send them the copy of the receipt again (you already did it with your first email). After telling them that you have already sent the copy of the receipt they stop talking to you completely. So the conclusion - not a reliable company at all.
walk if you have to
Favorite thing: if you have to take a taxi, it's best for you to tell the driver how much you're gonna pay for it. They'll charge you extra for sure if you don't come to agreement about the price. Fortunately we had a guy who speaks the local language, so he just told the driver that we'll pay for example 100kr from Roxy to our hostel. He was first against it but somehow it all went well and we got back to our hostel.
Be careful with the taxi drivers, they love to "rob" tourists!
Taxi Drivers - Easy to bypass
Favorite thing: We arrived in Prague with our own car, put it into a safe garage (provided by the hotel Pariz) - and had no need for taxis. Of course it was summer and walking was at 31 degree Celsius is a pleasure. But one really doesn't need in summer to take a taxi: Prague is a compact city and within 20 minutes walk from a centrally located hotel most of the spots can be visited.
Beyond that Prague has an excellent easy to use underground. The density of the stations is rather low but combined with the tramway or 15 minutes walk from the stations really every place of interest for a visitor is easy to reach.
The use of the underground is easy, the only caveat ist that you need coins (ask at the hotel or in the restaurants) and the number of installed ticket machines is limited. The good news : the ticket machines are multi-lingual. The other good news: as Prague has three lines and only 3 "changing" stations the trips are easy to plan (compared to Paris) The underground is fast and one feels safe (there are far less "suspicious" people than in Hamburg, London, Paris or New York). Compared to Germany (except Cologne and Munich) there is a dense presence of Police forces.
Favorite thing: Taxi drivers in Prague are notorious for ripping off tourists. Never pick up a taxi on the street: instead call a local taxi company. Airport taxis are regulated but are still known to overcharge. The journey to the centre should take about 20 minutes and cost around 300Kc (£6).
Favorite thing: generally, if you're known to be a foreigner, cost will increase right before your very eyes. But it's still cheap regardless
