I have found my favorite restaurant of all times. This place is a gem. The food is delicious and the service is best that I've ever experienced. So friendly and smiling but still very professional. Ambience is nice too, good for all kinds of situations, and the prices are really reasonable.
I visited this restaurant for the second time in March 2006 and I still love it. The service is as great as before and the food delicious. And even though this place is right in the middle of old town and the tourist zone, this excellent restaurant is popular with both locals and tourists. The restaurant has been full every time I've visited so it is a good idea to book a table.
Favorite Dish: For a starter the Bruschetta with aubergine, tomatoes and mozzarella was ooooh so good. I've never liked aubergines before. Their mixed apetizer plate is also excellent.
As for the main course, my favorite was rigatoni with parma ham. Also the gnocchi with parma ham was good as well as the steaks. I'm sure whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. In 2006, I chose tagliatelle al ambiente, a pasta with chicken, lime, parmesan and cream and it was fantastic.
And for dessert, try the chocolate fondues: milk, white, dark or baileys. It comes with mixed fruits, but it is also possible to choose, what you'd like for example half banana/half strawberries.
They also have a really good and long wine list.
Ambiente have a chain of restaurants in Prague, one of them is Brasileiro, the variety of food on offer here is excellent and quite bizarre. There is not a menu as such you just help yourself to various spicy and tasty fruit and veg, and the chefs bring you a choice of freshly cooked meats every 5 mins. Keep eating until you are full!
Favorite Dish: Fried bananas, also extra spicy chillies!
I think its the best restaurant chain in Prague by its quality, service...Each restaurant has different style of cusine. They offer Italian pasta restaurant, steakhouse, Brasilian Churrasco, pizza place all you can eat.
My favorite is Italian and Brasilian churrasco.
Great service in all of their restaurants and reasonable prices!
Favorite Dish: Tacchino con insalata mista 150g - turkey breast coated with walnuts and parmesan, avocado and mixed vegetable salad...234czk
Gnocchi di Patate - alla Margherita con salame Napolitana 50g salami Napolitana, mozzarella di bufala campana DOP, capers and tomato sauce...154czk
Churrasco - Eat as much s you can:
Salada buffé 245 Czk (bill’ paid by 6pm 225 Czk)
Salada buffé e churrasco rodízio carnes 565 Czk (bill’ paid by 6pm 465 Czk)
Yes it's touristy, but it's so damn good. Even thought it was 3 years ago, I still dream of the gnochie in a cream sauce with parma ham and regiano cheese...UMMM.
Everything tasted very fresh. The price wasn't bad. Under $20 each for 3 courses and a bottle of wine (ah, Prague was so cheap).
I highly recomend this place for a great Italian meal in Prague.
Eat as much as you can for about 13 euros. Buffet salads and starters bar plus all sorts of hot pizzas and pastas. So if you are hungry and like Italian food don't miss it!
The other restaurants of the same chain serve mostly american food, I didn't go to any of them but I will nex time.
As most of Prague restaurants it is situated in a cellar just 300 m from the Staromestske namesti. Be sure to reserve for dinner. In the evening it is full of people. It's a very special place with friendly staff and superb food.
Many kinds of pasta, vegetarian dishes and specialities. Leave some space for DESSERTS!!!! M-m-m...........
Portions are generous while the prices are very attractive.
The atmosphere is lovely!!
Favorite Dish: I was just ruined by wine steamed pear with nuts in caramel...... and pear creamy foam and yougurt ice-cream with hot raspberries...........
I kid you not...this was simply the best meal I had in Prague. I was getting desperate and even though I loved prague it was turning into one of the worse foodie destinations I ever tried.
Frankly I was kinda getting so traumatised that I almost didnt come here and chosen a "safe" italian instead. There are two restaurants both in old town. Actually just a few hunderd meters apart. I wanted to come on a saturdaynight but it turned out both places were FULL!! On monday last night in prague it was easier to book the table, but when I was there the place seemed to be packed again. These places are REAL popular.
And reading the good reviews and ambiente's great reputation logical. I sit on thigroundfloor, but the better choice would be in the cellar.More atmospheric and roomier. The welcome and service here was simply excellent. It was kinda stiff at first...but once we got into the swing of things the people started to loosen up. I guess our table kinda surprised the people with the amount we are able to eat.
Anyway for you who are not familiar with brasilian Churrascaria Rodizio...these are all you can eat places. For a set amount(565krona) You get a salad bar and all you can eat grilled meats.desserts(no way) and drinks(salty meat=thirst) are extra.
Pretty expensive for prague...but it's about 20€ and IMHO it's worth every penny.
Let me first state that this place isn't anywhere close to being an gastronomic experience. It seems Czech cuisine is only familiar with 1 seasoning=Salt. And here they use it VERY extensively.(I guess they need to earn money with drinks). But there are some very great dishes here and rodizio's like always are extremely satisfying.
Favorite Dish: Let's start with the worse first. Included in the price is the saladbar. Pretty extensive and even includes Sushi.Matter of fact you can only choose to eat from the bar.(definite no-no)
This got to be one of the WORSE saladbars ever. They have a bunch of expensive ingredients there...but everything is so bland and tasteless. YECH. And ths Sushi is just laughable. Frankly I make better sushi at home, to put it more bluntly even a supermarket sushi tastes better.I mean they don't even soy sauce with the sushi!! PATHETIC.
Well with that over...to the good stuff the Rodizio. The best about Rodizio is that all meats are grilled fresh. And here you can choose what you want or not.(In some places you are forced to eat everything) The bad thing..the seasoning.I guess to encourage drinking they over season the meats. To bad that they only use salt. If you don't believe me try the Beef parmezan(Seasalt + Parmizan..Overkill) or the Flanksteak.
The best thing about this place is that they don't only have meats here, but also serve plenty of fish. Frankly the fish was MUCH better than the meat.
The delicious babyoctopus was real scrumptious even though they look kinda weird. They had salmon and baked whitefish which was also very good. But the king of all the dishes was the grilled prawns. just HEAVENLY.
The sidedishes were great too.Plenty to choose from. From tasty beans and rice to cheese breadballs. The grilled pineapple is a great compliment to all the meats. To bad they don't have the relatively simple to make rodizio sauce.(A watery greenish kinda salsa)
Anyway this is truly an excellent restaurant even if on the priceyside. It's not very authentic and the saladbar is pathetic, but the fact that they serve also fish and have excellent sidedishes makes this a rodizio a cut above other rodizio's and the best restaurant I tried in Prague. The waiters and service are all better than the average prague restaurant.Who would have thought in landlocked Czech Republic one of the best prawn dishes I ever tried.HIGHLY recommended.
great italian food,a huge wine selection in a very cosy place.nice waitresses!!!It's such a big deal in Prage.
reservations required. If you don't want to use telephone, just pass by while walking in the city during the day,it's very close to the Saroméstske.
Favorite Dish: the pasta is realy fresh and so are the ingredients.
Located at a beautiful street in the middle of Prague's Old Town. There's a café on the ground floor and the restaurant is located in the basement. There's a large selection of Italian dishes in the menu and a rich salad bar. The prices are extremely cheap, even in Czech standards.
It's a very nice restaurant with an amazing interior. Just love it! The staff was very nice and friendly. They talked with us in some Swedish! It's very popular, so book early.
Favorite Dish: I had baked potatoes with chicken, corn, etc. Really yummy! And I had cheese cake for dessert. There are special ladies portions, but they're quite big anyways!
