This stylish restaurant on the Vltava has spectacular views of Charles Bridge. Its speciality is Mediterranean cuisine, other international favourites and variations of Czech dishes. Great atmosphere and service, many celebrities have been here including Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. It is expensive for Prague but still reasonably priced.
This international fare restaurant includes everything from pizza to fish dishes to wok dishes to Czech specialties. The food here was pretty dang good. The service was close to being down right rotten. But I would be hard pressed to find a restauant with a better view than this restaurant right on the Vltava River.
This place will not be the cheapest place to eat in Prague. Just a warning.
Favorite Dish: The Svíèkova was quite good. A Czech dish worth ordering.
Virtually next door to sister establishment Kampa Park, the group that owns both restuarants have trumped themselves with Hergetova Cihelna. So the name might not roll off the tongue, but Hergetova is a far less formal, elitist experience than Kampa Park's flagship, and it also boasts an even finer view of Charles Bridge and riverside Prague, friendlier service, a lighter, airier atmosphere, and all at a far more pocket-friendly price.
Heaters on the outdoor terrace keep the romantic riverside location buzzing with happy, chatty diners long into the evening, and the prices make it feasible to spend a whole evening eating and drinking with a spectacular panoramic view of the Vltava.
A forty pound splurge for two of you at Hergetova Cihelna will leave you feeling you've treated yourself very nicely indeed, well fed and a little light headed. Overall, outstanding value and the perfect blend of location, style, sophistication and service, all in one of the most beautiful settings in Prague. Just go!
Favorite Dish: I took the veal risotto, the first bite of which was a moment to savour, tender and juicy and almost too tasty for it's own good. It's amazing how many times, even in good restaurants, you get served up a chunk of overcooked veal you could use as a blackjack, but not much else. Here, it was perfectly cooked and served on top of the risotto in five generous but not overwhelming slices.
The risotto itself was creamy and possibly good enough to eat a bowl of by itself, especially since cheeky little cherry tomatoes were hiding in there to give it a little zip.
Affordable wines and cocktails accompany the first rate menu, which manages to be upmarket without all the pretensious flourishes found on weird shaped plates over at Kampa. Succulent!
Hergetova Cihelna is very modern, hip, lounge, laidback restaurant. The ambience is great. Nice music, beautiful pictures on the wall, the food is a delight for the eye (and offcourse very tastfull).
Favorite Dish: We had a fish and a classic menu: Crabcakes with tarragon aioli for starter, Tempura fried tuna with enoki mushrooms and wasabi potato puree. Lovely. The desert was the best I ever ate: strawberry granita with creme chantilly. The classic menu was: spinach soup with salmon, Beef tournedos with bourgogne sauce, grilled potatoes and haricots verts, and for desert trio of chocolate mousse with granet apple coulis.
My husband and some friends of ours were in Prague for New Years and heard about this party at the Hergatova. What a great time! The seafood buffet was great and the service was exceptional. After dinner we went to the bar- they had a lady singing and then fireworks over the Charles River at midnight. It was a nice alternative to the busy and dangerous Wenceslas Square.
Favorite Dish: the seafood and the champagne of couse!
The menu offers traditional Czech and international favorites along with gourmet salads, pastas and authentic Neapolitan pizza.
The setting for this wonderful restaurant is perfect,in between the Castle and Charles Bridge. We went on the terrace over looking the bridge, just as the snow was beginning to fall.I bet its lovely to sit out there in the Summer eating and drinking with friends and just watching the world go by....
Great staff, very friendly and spoke better England than wot I does !!!
They also have a cocktail bar and I recommend the B52,very tasty !!!
Travelchili booked this place for us,she turned trip to a different city into a memorable occasion and neither of us can wait to go back again.
I strongly recommend this place, and book ahead.
Favorite Dish: I had the Calazone,a few beers cany remember what maria had,but ,again,I was pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived, top quality food,in a wonderful setting at ridiculously low prices !!!
The newly opened restaurant is not far from the Charles Bridge, right by the waterfront. It is definitely one of the city's most spectacular restaurant-lounges! The meals are outstanding regardless what you choose!
Favorite Dish: My favorite was definitely the seafood risotto. It is hard to explain, so you should try it if you like risotto in general.
