You can see the Petrin tower from many places in the city as it sits on the top of the Petrin Hill (318m). It was built in 1891 for the Prague Exposition and it is 60 meters high. If you don't mind the heights, don't mind paying 30Kc and love to climb 299 steps, you are welcome to do so:)
again, i basically wanted to share more pictures from Petrin hill. During the spring time, it's spectacular. People sun bathing, reading, having picnics, hiking, and then when you make it up to the top, you can WALK up petrin tower. from what i've been told: Petrin town is at the same elevation of the Eifel tower in Paris, but 1/3 the size. kinda cool piece of info :o)
This miniature "Eiffeltower" is very intelligently built as you don't use the same staircase going up and coming down. The view is great. At the bottom of the tower there is a souvenir kiosk and a cafeteria with the usual fast food. Public toilets can be used for a fee and are a short walk away.
Use the cable car going up and walk down!
From many parts of Prague you can see the 'small Eiffel Tower' (60 m high), which was built according to the original Eiffel Tower in Paris for the national exhibition in the year 1891 on the Petrin Hill.
After you have climbed its 299 steps you will have the most wonderful views of Prague.
Building the tower took 53 days only.
There is a mirror labyrinth (zrdcadlove bludiste) and diorama in close proximity of the watchtower.
You can reach the Petrin watchtower a.o. with funicular railway, which is for kids very pleasant.
For amazing views of Praha and beyond, go up Petrin Hill and climb the tower. They call it the 'mini Eiffel Tower', because it is the same design, only smaller.
There is a small fee to climb the tower, but well worth it. During peak season, you can take a cable car up the hill to the tower, otherwise you can walk. If you are moderately in shape, it won't be a problem to climb.
The Tower at Petrin hill is a one fifth scaled version of the Eiffel tower. We climbed the 299 steps for great views of the city. I particularly liked the humour of the white line drawing of the fallen body at the bottom of the tower! The steps near the top do feel a bit narrow and exposed, but you’re perfectly safe
The Petrinska Tower - little copy of famous Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The tower is 60 m tall and it is marvelous view on Prague from there. Tower was reopened after 2 years of reconstruction on the beginning of March. From downtown you can reach this tower by cable car, otherwise you can walk from the Prague Castle through beautiful Petrin Gardens.
This tower is a copy of the orginal Eiffel tower in Paris. It's 1/5 of the orginal height so it's 60m high and it was buit 1891. It took only 5 monts to build this tower with 299 steps. There has been an restauration during 2000 and I don't know when it's going to be open for public again
The Petrin lookout tower is also know as the little Eiffeltower. It was build in 1891.
When there are clear skies, you will have excellent views over Prague. And even further away.
The miniature Eiffel tower that stands at the top of Petrin hill was built in 1891 for the universal exhibition. from the top there are breathtaking views of Prague and the castle.
The interesting tower of the Petrin Park has been built for the Jubilee show in 1891. The tower is tall only 60 meters and to climb on its summit there are 299 steps.
We went to Petrin Tower on a foggy day.We couldn't see much. But if you have a chance to visit Prague on a clear day you will be amazed , I think.
It is easy to go there by funicular system.
Petrin tower is the small brother of the french Eifel tower.
The view from there is very beutiful and you can see the tower from many places in prague too.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist Prague. Relax in the park and the mini Eiffel Tower as a viewpoint.
O.k its not that tall but i get really bad vertigo which wasn't helped by the staircase wninding round the middle. Like a small Eiffel tower not very crowded and a good view of the city.
