The Art Nouveau Industrial Palace (Prumyslovy Palác) was build for the Jubilee Industrial Exhibition based on a project of architect Bedrich Münzberger in 1891. The building is made of glass and iron construction. With its 51-meter-high clock tower and two 238 metres long wings it is still the centre of many fairs and exhibitions. It is a dominating feature of the whole area and at the same time the biggest construction of the Exhibition grounds. The neighboring large Royal Enclosure Park, aka Stromovka was used by the kings of Bohemia from as early as the 13th century and various structures have been erected here.

Letna is a park on a promontory on the high bank of Vltava, directly opposite of Josefov. It used to be a site of the largest statue in the world of the Soviet dictator Iosif Stalin, which was blasted away when his successor convinced the current Czech leadership to do so. Now there is a modern sculpture on its site.
Right below it there is a very beautiful bridge that should not be missed. It reminded me of the Russian bridge in Paris.

This piece of active sculpture replaced a statue of Stalin and waves to the city all day from it's lofty perch.
Just behind it there is a park where a lot of skateboarders congregate, they are fun to watch and quite skilful.
Thanks to Vratsab for help in the position of this highlight.

If you want to get a "taste of communism" visit the former site of the Stalin monument which cast it's shadow over Prague from 1955 to 1962. At the site there's now a giant metronome erected in 1991,
How to get there:
Take Tram 12 or 17 from the centre to Cechuv Most. Walk up the stairs to Letna Park and the Metronome.

This is the statue of Czech poet and writer, Julius Zeyer, who was born in 1841. He has plenty of respect in local people's eye. The statue is very interesting, with cave looking impression, surrounded in bushes.
I was in Prague in off peak time and did not see any one around this.

First, we walked a smaller park. Chotkovy Sady. Then, we came to Letna Park.
The photo shows a sort of monument. Statues on fake rocks.
We could see a name carved on the rocks. Probably the person who made these statues ?
This is the Julius Zeyer Memorial, a sculpture commemorating the 19th century poet which consists of a group of statues hanging round in a artificial cave, with a small pond in front of it.
Julius Zeyer (1841 - 1901)
The Czech poet, dramatist and writer. He was inspired with by the Czech and European mythology and by the Orient.

I was accompanied by my friend Milan on this first day in Prague. He knew all the best sights & took me up this hill for a truly amazing view over Prague !
I just love this photo. I felt that I managed in capturing some good part of Prague.
We can see the Vltava River, the longest in Czech Republic.
Milan is a smart guy. he took me to Letna Park. So, my exploration of Prague started from this hill.
