We decided to take one of those 3 1/2 hour bus tours around Prague on Day 1 to orient ourselves to the city. It was a Grand Tour offered by a company whose name escapes me, but it cost around $40 USD per person. Usually, I research these tours before I buy and usually, they are well run, informative and worth the money. This was an impulse buy and it cost me. I asked upfront whether or not they had an English language tour. What they didn't tell me was that it was also in German, so one half of everything you heard was useless. Add to that, half of the info that you could understand was superficial and could have been gleaned from most any guide book. A total waste of time and money in my opinion. I could have done much better with a metro day pass and a tour book.
Moral of the story - do your research before you buy. Stick to well regarded companies with a decent review history. Avoid impulse buys like mine or you risk rolling the dice.

Prague's non-stop nightlife is legendary all around the world. If you are looking for the ultimate lads day out, then you have come to the right place!
Boys will be boys is one of many itineraries assembled by Prague Play Pass experts to get most out of the city!
Kick off with a full English breakfast at the George and Dragon pub, then try to drag yourself away from the beer and the TV sports and head out to the Rangercentrum for a game of Quadball - paintball played on quad bikes! Come back into town for lunch and more motorised mayhem at the Go-Karting track, take down your mates in a 28-player death-match at the Laser Game arena, or just go for a dirty laugh in the Sx Machines Museum. When it is time to get the party started, head for the 3 Lions pub for beers and a steak, then strut your stuff on the dance-floors at Karlovy Lazne or Klub Lavka.
What people respond to the best is that Play Pass is like their personal VIP ticket to some of the hottest spots in the city. In fact I climbed this tower with a thought I climb the Powder Tower :)
On the top it didn't have any visitors at all (except old watchman snoring listening to radio).
You can see there nice, little-known Prague views, especially when you are limited mobility (there is a big elevator for free use). Also in the tower you can find the museum and gallery of city towers, and a restaurant that took 6th, 7th and 8th floor of the tower.
Also there are working bells on the top that play the melody every hour. Since 1351 :)
Admission is 80 CZK (ISIC - 55 CZK).

The Petrin Hill itself a nice place to spend part of the sunny day. The nice city view already opens to you when you going up on the funicular. The viewing spot of the tower is glass-sided with few windows opened to let you make some proper photos. The tower is not too high so you can take the stairs (cost 100 CZK), but for extra 50 CZK you can use the elevator. Mind that the elevator is very small, and not more then 4-5 people can fit in there.

Our second destination for sightseeing.
This hill is the historical beginning of Prague.
Vysehrad means, verbally, high castle. This name suits a distant and noble site, overlooking the busy and vibrant town.
Not much left here from old days when princess Libuse stood on a cliff and imagined the future developed Prague.

Our tour begins in Petrin Hill. Here are some of the most beautiful sights of Prague.
Cable car takes you to the top of the hill, and you have to climb 299 connical steps of Rozhledna Tower. The views from the top are well worth the effort. Rozhledna, 60m high, is a copy of Parisian Tour Eiffel.

if you finished youre "things to do in prague" and you think you want to do somthing thats not on the menu just start walking from the anywhere in the old city and along the river to the gothic part of vysehrad. only a few minutes from one of the most beautyfull places in europe you find yourself, like in a time machine, in one of the ugliest. a living remember of the comonist days and the soviets rule over chescoslovakia. in its way, the walking in these streets is being in real prague, with the real people of prague, and the real life of prague.
the finish of this trip at the dark castle of vysehrad, with her famos cemetery and a vew on the river and prague from a diferent angle is a trip werth doing.
on the way' dont forget to visitginger and fred, one of the beautyfull modern buildings in prague, that got is name because it looks like a dancing man and waman.

My advice on going to Prague is get a guide and do a walking tour. I learned so much more from our guide than I would have ever done on my own. They are not expensive to hire and will show you places you would have never found.
For instance, the TV mast (you can see in the top right hand side of the photo) wasn't used just for transmitting programs. During the days of the Eastern bloc it's main purpose was to block transmissions from the rest of the world from going into Prague. Times have changed.

It worth the visit to the Tower on the Old Town Bridge, the view is astounding.
Seeing the Charles Bridge and the river it from up it’s something to remember. I went there early on the morning so it wasn’t crowded with tourists.
Don’t miss!

The best view of Prague I found is from atop the Prague Castle wall. I got there just in time for sunset. There was a crowd, but off to the side, there is a section of the castle wall that you can climb.
Perched on top of something that some 12th century soldier probably hid behind while shooting arrows, I had an unobstructed view of the city below -- the pretty churches, the gorgeous red-orange roofs, the bridge being lit up for the night -- all as the reds and purples of the sky settled in for the night.
Watch your step though... there's a long drop down the hill on the other side of the wall, and the climb up the wall itself is just a series of rickety and crumbly concrete blocks stacked on top of each other.
