Rococo Bellaria summerhouse and cascading fountain
The Cascade Fountain is placed in the Castle Gardens in Èeský Krumlov. It is situated on the slope that divides the upper garden and lower parterre. The cascade fountain with statues of the water Deity, balustrade, vases and allegories of the four seasons crowns the front of the upper garden.
The revolving auditorium
Located in the Castle Gardens, it invokes a magical time of amphitheatres, where the night sky and suberb surroundings (in this case the castle gardens and Rococo summer house) seem to amplify the sounds of Mozart, Shakespeare and Dvoøák to name a few.
Go to the website to see the program of the theatre.
There are a lot of marked hikes in and around the town. Luckily my hostel had a map of a few of them but Im sure the tourist info office can help you out if your hostel or hotel does not.
Here is a fairly simple and short one to an old witches meeting point (see photo) where years ago legend has it that members of the occult met up to perform thier deeds.
Head to the castle and go through into the garden. About halfway through the garden you can exit the gardens through a gate on the right into a small car park and road. Just ahead of you there will be a small mound to the right with a wood ontop. Head up the road and you'll see a track leading up to the hill. Go up the track and head right at the fork to walk around the woods. The track will eventually lead into the woods, follow it and it will bring you to the meeting place.
North of Cesky Krumlov in nature reserve "Blanský les" you will find the mountain "Klet".
Hardly known by foreign tourists , but Czech day-trippers know their way.
With a chairlift you can reach the top at 1083m , where you can look over Krumlov and even see the Alps in Austria when the weather is alright. Unfortunately it wasn't when i visited it.
Most of the Czechs walk down and search for mushrooms.
Cesky Krumlov: The White Lady of Bohemia
One only has to observe the many door ways of larger homes to see evidence of the Rozmberks royal five pettled seal.
The Rozmberks were once the most powerful family in southern Bohemia. However like many royal families of yesterday, and today might I say, were riddled with tyrany and tradgedy. The most legendary true character of the Rozmberks was none other than Perchta of Rozmberk. In 1449 her father Oldrich II married her of to Jan of Lichtenstein, she at the age of 20 years and against her will. Lichtenstein's interests were only in her large dowry and he took her away from her beloved Cesky Krumlov to live her lonely years at Mikulov.
She pleaded to her family numerous times and some 92 letters she sent to her family survive. She died tragically of plague, aged 49 years, and this is when the legend started she thus becomming the so called White Lady of Bohemia. Her ghost was said to inhabit her former home castles.

The capital of Sgrafitto!
Two story corner house with painted Renaissance frontage belongs among the most interesting monuments of the historic centre of Èeský Krumlov. It is basically a late Gothic building which underwent a general reconstruction in Renaissance style in the third quarter of the 16th century. There are noteworthy richly painted facades with decorated and figurative motives. Both frontages are expressive in the town interior.

Horni 159, known as „Kaplanka"
This is what the TIC has on the history and Description of the Building :
This two -story corner building is situated on the lower end of the sloping terrain of Horni Street. The main facade of the building does not face Horni Street, as do the other buildings in this row along Horni Street, but rather faces Svornosti Square. The left side wall is in line with the front facade of its neighboring building on Horni Street and the right side wall faces the Church of St. Vitus. On both the main facade and right side facade there are Gothic-Renaissance circular tracery windows with stone window jambs. In the semicircular tympanum above the entrance portal of the main facade there is a large plaque with an engraving that commemorates the construction of the building in 1520 which was led by Václav z Rovného. To the left of this portal there is a gravestone of a baker named Matyas Plankel, which has the symbol of the baker's guild (the pretzel) on it. Next to Martin's gravestone is the gravestone of his daughter Anezka . Both Matyas and his daughter lived at Svornosti Square no. 15. The other gravestone that is located on the chapel belongs to the burgomaster and town councillor of Cesky Krumlov, Lord Jetøich Slatinský ze Slatinky. His gravestone is engraved with the text „In the year 1591, here lies the noble Jetøich Slatinský ze Slatinky, well-known servant of the Rosenberg family and some time sheriff of Cesky Krumlov, 12th of December." A noteworthy element of the main facade is the bay which protrudes out from the corner of the building at a right angle. This bay is supported by an engaged column that has got a spiral design engraved into it. Under the windows sills on the bay, there is the symbol of the Rosemberg family, the five-petalled rose. Gothic stone window jambs are well-preserved on the northern, street side facade.

The story of your life!
Two story corner house with a diaphragm arch over Klášterní street. The house has a sgraffito facade, and there are arcades under the modern cornice with a painted Renaissance series called"Lifecycle", which is supposed to represent ten stages in the life of man, from boyhood to death. The arcades on the side of the house contain abswing paintings, depicting maybe alchemist scales and Cabala signs. There are small Gothic windows with angled edges and red Gothic embossing.

The knight of Rozmberk.
The Knight standing on the building is the Knight of Rozmberk. The Rosenberg or Rozmberk family was of great influence to the town.
This is a three story building with plain facade with two axes, with a Renaissance label molding on the ground floor. It has a Renaissance gable with vertical cornices and small pillars ending in a Venetian vaulted shield. The facade has letter-shaped sgraffito and a mural painting of the so-called Rosenberg rider. The house has a double-pitched shingle roof. On the left side of the narrow courtyard is a vaulted gallery.

An idyllic place to be!
Don't ask me what this place is called I could'nt tell you, but what I do know is the fact that 'this can be a beautiful place when it's restored!
Try to see through the pile of junk and see the beauty of this place.
A complex of factory-type buildings with an elongated ground plan, situated on an island, around which flows the river Vltava with a mill race. The eastern end and the abutting part have two storeys, the rest has only one storey. Near the western end there is a wooden shelter and above the mill-race is situated a one-storey wing, originally with a wheel. Except for a jetty on two consoles at the south-eastern corner of the building, facing the river Vltava, the complex is not historically remarkable. All the sections have flat ceilings, joist ceilings or ceilings vaulted to the transverses. There is a saddle roof and above the two-storey section is a terrace. Along the mill-race is situated a wooden gallery. A chimney shaft raises up from the saddle roof.
I hope to visit again and hope it will be restored then, because someone has to see the beauty of this place!

Here's another photo taken in Telc. The bus that I took was also full of school kids for their summer trip maybe. It was lovely because it made me remember the days when my school would organize such trips ! Those days...
The different thing is my school would hire our own bus but these Czech kids (with their teachers) took the local public tranport !
During the stop in Telc, the school kids were noisily talking this & that & I just smiled to them all. They all looked at me as if they wanted to ask questions but nothing muttered in their mouth...It was so lovely !
Maybe they were guessing where I came from ?
Then the teacher asked them not to become so noisy because I would take a photo of them !
That's what I did...& they all just loved it !

This photo was not taken in Cesky Krumlov but in TELC where the bus that I was taking stopped for a while (to get some bites) on my way to BRNO.
I didn't have the time of course to explore Telc but this town was founded in the 14th century as a fortified settlement !
The photo is showing the canteen where I got my sandwich to eat...FROM TELC, I CONTINUED TO BRNO...[Click on the link].

A town in southern Czech Republic which has preserved much of its older architecture. Go up into the castle tower for great views of the town
the town itself
Watching the real small number of tourists around this town, made me guess this is an off the beaten path destination itself.
