Meat dominates the menu. Ours was juicy and flavorful - try the wild boar if you get the chance, with a mug of the original Budweiser beer, Budvar, from the neighboring town of Ceske Budejovice. It's a lot more flavorful than the American version of Budweiser!

Prices are moderate for the Czech Republic, so basically quite cheap. We just had beer here, but the food looked good and the service was excellent. Choice of light and dark beers, apparently from the oldest brewery in the Czech Republic.

Sit towards the back of the restaurant as the open BBQ, though interesting to watch, can get a bit too smoky.

Although there was a large tour group finishing up and we entered five minutes before closing time, the staff at the Hotel Ruze restaurant could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Unfortunately, our first choices for dinner were un available since they had also been the first choices of the people before us. I ended up with pasta by default and it was amazing. The plate was huge and after eating on it for thirty minutes I hadn't even finished a third of it. My dinner companions were also very expressive regarding the quality of their food.
The most impressive aspect of the restaurant is definitely the decor. It is akin to stepping back into a medieval castle and the architecture of the restaurant alone is worth taking a peek at. First class service and dining all the way!
In December of 2005 we had Christmas dinner at the Hotel Ruze. The price averaged out to about $20 per person and it was absolutely wonderful. You have to have reservations in advance, but the service, food, and atmosphere was first class. It is beautifully decorated during the Christmas season as well, and definitely worth the added expense. Leave a Comment

Restaurace u Pisare Jana has a wonderful location. You can sit on the terrace overloooking the Vltava River, eating great food and drinking local wine. They also have Eggenberg beer.

Here there were the old prison cells of the medieval town, now it's a restaurant, but it seems that time has stopped!
Great food, great atmosphere, often great live music too, it's really a MUST in Český Krumlov, don't miss it for any reason! Leave a Comment
