    Laibon: Vegetarian Eats

    by whirledpeas0621 Written Jan 18, 2007

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is the view from Laibon's outdoor seating.

I went to Cesky Krumlov with my meat-eating friend, and both of us got hooked on the fabulous food at Laibon. David is the owner, chef, and waiter at this small restaurant, and he is extremely laid back, friendly, and full of advice (and, yes, he speaks English!). We ate there almost every night at Cesky Krumlov, and we couldn't get enough! There were lentil dishes and fried vegetable dishes. So many options! You have the option of eating inside or out. I recommend sitting outside because you're sat right next to the river.

    Hotel Ruze Restaurant

by Krumlovgirl Updated Sep 10, 2006

Although there was a large tour group finishing up and we entered five minutes before closing time, the staff at the Hotel Ruze restaurant could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Unfortunately, our first choices for dinner were un available since they had also been the first choices of the people before us. I ended up with pasta by default and it was amazing. The plate was huge and after eating on it for thirty minutes I hadn't even finished a third of it. My dinner companions were also very expressive regarding the quality of their food.

The most impressive aspect of the restaurant is definitely the decor. It is akin to stepping back into a medieval castle and the architecture of the restaurant alone is worth taking a peek at. First class service and dining all the way!

Favorite Dish: In December of 2005 we had Christmas dinner at the Hotel Ruze. The price averaged out to about $20 per person and it was absolutely wonderful. You have to have reservations in advance, but the service, food, and atmosphere was first class. It is beautifully decorated during the Christmas season as well, and definitely worth the added expense.

I cant give you the exactly address of this restaurant but you might see the ad of it near by Tourist Information or you can ask somebody around there. It opens 5 pm

Favorite Dish: We had Garlic soup --- it was a soup of garlic with cheese ( yummy! ) in bread and a big pork knee that you must have it.

Kavarna: Oh, the food I consumed

This is the first place that we ate at in Krumlov, and it set the standard for everywhere else. I had chicken covered with cheese sauce, a salad, homemade bread, a glass of wine, a Pepsi, and chocolate crepes for about $6. I was very hungry.

Favorite Dish: What do I suggest you try? Do like we did-try one of everything. We ate there twice on our trip and wasn't disappointed either time.

    Satlava: Medieval Tavern Atmosphere

by JetlagCity Updated Feb 4, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    inside Satlava

Satlava had excellent food and a great medieval atmosphere, too. It's in a cellar-like space, with only candles for light, and meat cooked on an open fire. I really enjoyed hanging out here!

Meat dominates the menu. Ours was juicy and flavorful - try the wild boar if you get the chance, with a mug of the original Budweiser beer, Budvar, from the neighboring town of Ceske Budejovice. It's a lot more flavorful than the American version of Budweiser!

This is a very popular place, so it's probably best to get reservations.

    U Klastera Cafe

This is a small coffee shop on a small side street opposite the Chateau. We popped in here fairly early to grab something for breakfast and settled on their rather nice cakes. Cake and a Latte for around 55 - 60SK.

    Favorite Dish: Cake! Chocolate cake!

U Dwau Maryi: Good service, good prices, antique atmosphere!

    by kit_mc Updated Jan 7, 2005

    U Dwau Maryi

This is a lovely old restored medieval building on a side street in the heart of the Old Town. Sitting upstairs you also get a great view of the river. It has a nice quiet atmosphere, some music playing but not drowning out conversation.

Prices are moderate for the Czech Republic, so basically quite cheap. We just had beer here, but the food looked good and the service was excellent. Choice of light and dark beers, apparently from the oldest brewery in the Czech Republic.

Very friendly service and the medieval building's atmosphere made this place one of my favourites in Cesky Krumlov.

Krcma v Satlasvske: Medieval Style BBQ Cellar

    by kit_mc Updated Jan 7, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Boyf enjoying meatfest

This place offers great food at reasonable prices. The service was a little slow, very slow, but the food made up for it. Medieval style cellar with axes and swords on the bare stone walls kind of liven things up. Mind your head...

Sit towards the back of the restaurant as the open BBQ, though interesting to watch, can get a bit too smoky.

Favorite Dish: We had a great mixed grilled platter at 380 crowns. A real meatfest! Enjoy it with a beer.

Na Louži: Very good local restaurant!

    by Carletto76 Written Sep 8, 2004
    Inside the restaurant

This restaurant/pub seats 40 people in an interior from 1910 - 1930. They serve traditional Czech cuisine and the famous (and good!) Eggenberg beer. The pub features a collection of advertising signs from old Czech products... sometimes there is live music in here too. Very good food and cheap prices.

Šatlavá: The best place in town!

    Inside the restaurant

It's hard to get in, it's hard even to book it, but if you do, you are in the nicest restaurant you can find in Český Krumlov!
Here there were the old prison cells of the medieval town, now it's a restaurant, but it seems that time has stopped!
Great food, great atmosphere, often great live music too, it's really a MUST in Český Krumlov, don't miss it for any reason!

Krcma v Satlavske: Dining by the fire

    by Dana_cz Updated Jan 10, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A tavern that will take you back to medieval times. All food is cooked on open fire (sit in one of the back rooms if the fire smoke bothers you), all lighting is provided by candles, and the staff wears period clothes. Needless to say, the menu is light on vegetables and heavy on meat - on skewers or off, with mustard or horseradish.

Favorite Dish: Try the meat skewer and delicious baked potatoes. An adventurous menu item is the Devil's Toast "appetizer" (the portion is huge) - toasted slices of bread with a garlic/chicken mixture on top. A drink of the medovina honey liquor will help you digest.
