    Wechselstube Restaurant and Pension

    by nature_girl Written Sep 23, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We actually found this place while looking for Na Louzi in Cesky Krumlov (we found it, but it was too full!). We found the Wechselstube Restaurant by following a little tunnel back off the main street. There is a small half covered courtyard back there with a cozy fireplace. Upon ordering, we realized that our meat would be cooked over that fireplace! Most of us agree that it was our favorite meal of the whole trip. The steak was especially good, especially the marinated steak.

    Favorite Dish: Steak on grill!

Beer is not my number one drink, it is wine. But you can't go to Czech and not drink beer. I believe we have drink Eggenber beer. I must say, it was very very tasty, and surprisingly reasonable price. It is tap beer.

You can eat there to. They offer a local Czech cuisine. Very tasty.
Interior is very small and cosy. I think not more than 30 people can stay at one time. It has a interior specific for pubs.

Building has been built at 1459 ooohhhh ...

    Favorite Dish: Beer :)

    Laibon: Vegetarian Eats

This is the view from Laibon's outdoor seating.

I went to Cesky Krumlov with my meat-eating friend, and both of us got hooked on the fabulous food at Laibon. David is the owner, chef, and waiter at this small restaurant, and he is extremely laid back, friendly, and full of advice (and, yes, he speaks English!). We ate there almost every night at Cesky Krumlov, and we couldn't get enough! There were lentil dishes and fried vegetable dishes. So many options! You have the option of eating inside or out. I recommend sitting outside because you're sat right next to the river.

Go trou the gate to the restaurant

Interiors are somewhat strange. If there are places and weather allows - choose seating outside. Many reservations from 14:00, so it is better to come around noon.

Cheaper than most tourist places, but food tastes great!

A really nice place, just off the main square, and great food! A cool train set goes around above your heads and the food is excellent modern Czech. I have been probably ten times to C Krumlov and I make sure I eat here every time.

roast pork with cabbage & dumpling

Krumlov Mill dating from 1546 is one of the largest Renaissance buildings in Cesky Krumlov. Housed in the large hall on the ground floor is an interesting restaurant that can seat around 80 people, and there's more space on the adjacent partially roofed-over terrace right on the bank of the Vltava River above the water channel leading to the mill wheel.

On the first floor of the mill, you can find a museum of historical motorcycles and a gallery of paintings for sale.

Favorite Dish: We had Pork with cabbage and Trout with potatoes. For dessert, we had the crepes with whipped cream and jam. The meals were very yummy! Even though the food fare was simple, it was delicious. The Czech beer was specifically very good - especially the original Budweiser and the local Pillsner beer.

This restaurant is classic Bohemian style and the ambience is great. We sat overlooking the water and the window was open as we ate, which gave the place a nice authentic feel. The wait staff were dressed in medieval style. The overall feel of the restaurant and the food they offered was medieval and Bohemian in style. This place was amazing: there was a huge selection of food, the staff were great, and the food was beyond words. Did I mention that it was insanely cheap? We paid around $60 for food for four people. This included a very large helping of food.

Favorite Dish: The best dish were their potatoes dumplings. They were not exactly dumplings, but looked more like bread, only it was made out of potatoes. It was very good!!!! Another thing that was good was the daisy soup, given with an actual daisy. The taste of all of the foods brings you back in time to the medieval times. Being able to sit in a place and eat the types of foods that were eaten hundreds of years ago is really neat.

Na Louzi: Humble Cheap Czech Cuisine

by monkeytrousers Written Jul 18, 2007

This small bar/restrauant served lots of interesting traditional Czech dishes all with large portions and at very good prices. The restraunt is very small and cosy with a great ambience.

Because of its popularity among locals and its size, you may have to wait for a table.

Favorite Dish: I had the fried cheese - a perfect cheap lunchtime snack or meal.

    Babylon at night

A perfect place to while away an evening. Couldn't be closer to the river - many customers simply get off their boats for a quick glass of local beer or two or three ...

Favorite Dish: Veprovy rizek s hranolkama - pork schnitzel with chips (fries). Also try the mixed salad with mysterious blue cheese :)

Krcma v Satlavske: Dining by the fire

    by Dana_cz Updated Jan 10, 2004

A tavern that will take you back to medieval times. All food is cooked on open fire (sit in one of the back rooms if the fire smoke bothers you), all lighting is provided by candles, and the staff wears period clothes. Needless to say, the menu is light on vegetables and heavy on meat - on skewers or off, with mustard or horseradish.

Favorite Dish: Try the meat skewer and delicious baked potatoes. An adventurous menu item is the Devil's Toast "appetizer" (the portion is huge) - toasted slices of bread with a garlic/chicken mixture on top. A drink of the medovina honey liquor will help you digest.
