The former augustyn monastery dates back to 1665 and was built in Baroque style.
Today it is used for the "Moravia Gallery" / Mährische Gallerie and the best part of its architecture is certainly the great baroque entrance-gate with two great sculptures, showing Markgraf (count) Johann Heinrich and his son Jost.
No wonder, Napoleon liked this place and stayed there in 1805 and 1809.

This is now the entrance-gate of the augustyn monastery in Brno / Brünn and in fact it looks a lot more like an embassy than a monastery.
The two big sculptures are Markgraf ( count ) Jost and his brother and unfortunately not in my picture, but only a few meters to the right, you might see a plate with the inscription saying that Napoleon stayed in this building - I put a picture of it under "Local customs"
