I'm talking about the natural mineral water coming out of the geysers there, which are pumped through drinking fountains for the public to use in this medieval city of Czech Republic. I was there back in July of 2007 and drank the water, which I knew was high in mineral content and supposed to be therapeutic. A few weeks later, I was diagnosed with a 1 inch size kidney stone, which I am 100% sure was due to drinking the water. Many people drink this water without second though, but I'd highly advise against it and even go so far as calling the water a "poison" because of the ill health effects that follow thereafter. Anyone with a family history of kidney stones or prone to developing them should NOT drink the water at Karlovy Variy. Stick to the bottled and filtered Matoni mineral water instead. I'd definitely go back to the Czech Republic and visit karlovy Vary, but I will never be drinking that unfiltered ground mineral water again.

some places ask very high prices for a normal one hour massage. A normal price is around 600czk/hour. I was asked even for 1500czk! others offer "mineral bath"...which is nothing but normal drinking water and mineral salts available in any pharmacy! you can do this at your home for a few cents! ...be careful of "special package treatment courses"..read them carefully...
read offers carefully, dont get cheated.
