From Zamek Hruba Skala hotel there are many day walks, The easiest takes about an hour and takes you around the sandstone pillars and to viewing platforms looking back on the picturesque Zamek and it's environs...on a fine day, you can see all the way to Trosky castle. The tracks are well marked.
The sandstone pillars can be climbed, but are governed by strict rules on protection that can and cannot be used - (friends/nuts can not be used...instead knots have to be used). During and after rain climbing is also banned. See photo for more information.

From Zamek Hruba Skala it is an easy 7km walk to Trosky castle, on very well marked tracks. You can see the castle from Zamek Hruba Skala and it draws you to it. The walk took 2 hours with a 9 year old. Mostly flat until the last km. The tracks are also used for cycling and are wide enough to accommodate both cycling and walking. 4km from the hotel, along the river, is a restaurant and ice cream shop. It is also a camp site.
The castle is built on shiny black basalt rock.
Entry into Trosky castle is 40kc.
