My friend Michael (globetrott) wrote such an enthusiastic review of this coffeehouse which made me going to Liberec :-)
And he is right! The architecture is historistic (Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque), with high ceilings, stucco works, large mirrors on the walls etc.
The food was excellent, prices low, service quick - but the waitress a bit unfriendly.
I had Palacinky (sort of crepes) with blueberries, vanilla ice cream with pieces of chocolate plus whipped cream - delicious. Cappuccino was very good and came with a glass of water (like in Vienna).

It was quite cheap, like in most of chinese restaurants. But when I compare the amount of served food with Czech traditional food, it's not a lot. Nice restaurant of Arena Hotel. They serve good beer Svijany which is real cheap - 15, 16 or 17 CZK.
You can eat ther real good traditional Czech dishes like Smazeny Syr (fried cheese), knedlyky, polevly. It's a lot of food, hard to eat... If you are feed up fried cheese and french fries, you schould visit nice restaurant for vegetarians. There's many meals to choose - hot dinners, snacks and desserts.
I had a fried potatoes with cabbage steak and I paid only 32 CZK (not even ne dollar!).

Kavarna Posta is the very best recommandation of a restaurant and cafe I may give you in Liberec.
It has the most beautiful interior, I ever saw, it is almost totally empty, maybe the prices are too high for ordinary people in Czechia, maybe I simply was there too early or to late to see them serve any other people.
Half of the restaurant was set with cloth-napkins, maybe they expected a group, maybe they simply wanted to be prepared " just in case " Leave a Comment Theme: Local

This restaurant is in the basement of the famous theatre, just opposite of Kavarna Posta.
Unfortunately it was not open, when I was there,but I took a picture of the menu that was displayed outside.
It might give an idea about the "ridiculous" prices you pay in restaurants OUTside of Prague and other tourist-centres.

I had lunch in a restaurant on main-square. Unfortunately I took the one you see in my picture. I was partly built into the arcades and had a large garden-restaurant on main-square with a great view of the townhall.
I had a trout, it tasted fine, BUT the service was LOUSY and I actually lost a lot of time waiting for food,drinks... Leave a Comment Theme: Local

It is a pity I had a late lunch already in a garden restaurant on main-square, BEFORE I found this lovely place.
The service was friendly and quick - 3 people in the service for 1 guest only - me...

This is a great Restaurant in downtown Liberec. It serves International food: mostly American, but also great Italian pastas and Mexican flavours mixed.
It also has a big grill where the cook prepares your chosen meat right there on the spot, and you can see it if you're sitting close.
Plus, it offeres a special separate dining room and services for children, making for a perfect family experience. I didn't try it, though ;)
All in all, as the name states, it offeres a great "ambiente" (ambience) for a good supper. It's located in an old wine cave, offering tunnel-like rooms, long, wide and spacious. The lighting and decoration is very warm, making it cozy and welcoming.
The selection of Pasta they sirve you in a big round wooden plate was unique in my experience. Leave a Comment
