It wasn't far off the Summer season when we drove past this Ski resort, even so, there still was a little snow lying around. What caught my attention first, was the giant bobsled track winding its way down the mountain side. It's a tube bobsled, which has a length of 1100 m making it the longest toboggan run in the Czech Republic. For those...more

Good for: Couples
I liked the buildings I saw in Liberec. The neo-renaissance Town Hall and the Theatre were both beautiful buildings! These were not the only ones though, I found plenty more just in the area around the town square. Others, like the museum and some buildings in the residential area still symbolize the golden times of when Liberec flourished as a...more
A trip to Bezdìz Castle is only 28 kms from Ceska Lipa.Unfortunately for me, all I could see was the mighty Bezdìz Castle sitting on Bezdìz hill, because in April it was only open on weekends. Well, I hope you can visit, as I was quite disappointed that we couldn't. Bezdìz was built as a Royal Castle in the 13th century and now is considered one of...more
The Pilgrimage Trail around the Ceská Lípa Region is a fairly new tourist track which will take you on a tour of the regions sacral buildings by following the Old Pilgrim's Path, along with a few additions. The main part of the track starts in Žitava and goes to Horní Police past 8 sacred places, and if your care to wander a little more in the...more
Located just 16kms from Ceska Lipa, is the town of Mimoñ. We happened to be passing through when I saw some interesting caves. There was signage written in Czech, so I had no idea until now what they were. It turns out they were used as Brewery cellars and cliff dwellings. These historic caves were carved into the sandstone hillside. The town has...more
Jablonec nad Nisou
There's a tram / train line to Liberec from Jablonec nad Nisou. It only takes a little time to arrive in Liberec. The journey is a also very cheap! During my last trip we had to change from tram to bus (labeled with the same number) that finally took us to Liberec but I don't know if this still exists.
Moving around in Jablonec is easy by walking cause the distances aren't too long and streets are normal.

The tracks are well marked. The sandstone pillars can be climbed, but are...more
From Zamek Hruba Skala it is an easy 7km walk to Trosky castle, on very well marked tracks. You can see the castle from Zamek Hruba Skala and it draws you to it. The walk took 2 hours with a 9 year old. Mostly flat until the last km. The tracks are also used for cycling and are wide enough to accommodate both cycling and walking. 4km from the...more
