Favorite thing: Waldstejn castle was built on top of 3 huge rocks of sandstone that were combined with bridges.
More than 250 meters in length and at the smallest place not much wider than 10 meters - like seen here on my picture
Fondest memory: These rocks made a safe place to build a castle !

Favorite thing: Waldstejn castle was the original castle of the Valdstejn-dynasty, also known better by their german name Wallenstein.
Fondest memory: This is a portait of Wallenstein, that you may see in one of the rooms that had been recently restored.

He was the most famous polititian, strategist and general in the Thirty Year' War

Favorite thing: Another trace of the Waldstejn / Wallenstein-family :
These half-timbered buildings in the town of Liberec / Reichenau were built by them and are still called Wallenstein-houses, as they are the only remains of the buildings built in 1678-1681in the " new town "

Favorite thing: Have a look for another castle of the Waldstejn-dynasty :
Duchkov / Dux is about half-way from Prague to Germany , and the castle was the place, where CASANOVA lived the last 13 years of his life and was writing his memoires, while beeing librarian of his friend earl Waldstejn.

Favorite thing: This is another palace once built and owned by the Waldstejn / Wallenstein-family.
It is just underneath the Hradzin and includes a wonderful garden and great halls and ornaments.
