 globetrott Says:  Below the castle there is a small path and you may see the castle from the perspective, enemies did.With todays technique of "free-climbing" people may enter the castle quickly, but in fact the rocks are much steeper than they seem on my picures.

 globetrott Says:  The 2 big rooms under the terrace are used today by painters for exhibitions.You may walk down the spiral staircase and have a look around :You will also realize, these rooms were made absolutely strong and without any ornaments, so they might have given up completely in...

 globetrott Says:  When you click on my picture, you may see this great construction from the perspective, a potential enemy would see it :On the left and on the right you see the natural rocks.The building in the middle has totally flat walls, and the rooms inside were of absolutely no use...

 globetrott Says:  I could not find any explanantion for this life-sized Knight in front of the church.The sculpture is totally flat and just a silhouette, standing on a treasure-box .Maybe it was ment for donations by the pilgims !

 globetrott Says:  The church was built by the architects M.A.Canevalli OR by F.M.Kanka ( funny to read this in one of the written infos, I got at the entrance to the castle - so it is still not clear, who finally was the architect...)Have a look around in the church it really looks nice ! 

The pilgim church

 globetrott Says:  In the 17th century the castle had been burned down, and was not any more comfortable and safe enough to live there, so the owners had the idea with a pilgrim church, also in order to show, that their origin was noble and firm in catholic faith.

 globetrott Says:  The first bridge to the castle shows several sculptures of saints, as it was the intention of the Waldstejn family in 1722 to build a pilgrim-church inside their castle.

 globetrott Says:  Valdstejn castle is not far from Hruba Skala, and here on my picture you may see the great sandstone-rocks that made the "Bohemian Paradise" such a special landscape.In the back of my picture is Trosky Castle, that was built on 2 rocks.

 globetrott Says:  Hiking, climbing and mountain-biking may be done in Bohemian paradise with plenty of well-marked paths.And the area is really breath-taking at many places, especially at Hruba Skala and Trosky castle with high rocks of sandstone. NO special equipment necessary !

 globetrott Says:  Waldstejn castle was built on top of 3 huge rocks of sandstone that were combined with bridges.More than 250 meters in length and at the smallest place not much wider than 10 meters - like seen here on my picture These rocks made a safe place to build a castle !
