by Luis_Alberto

The old Jewish neighbourhood in Prague, is quite a site. The entrance fee was steep, at 250.00 Kc. For Prague I think, but it is quite an educational, and emotional experience. Graves are stacked up 12 deep!, in the ground.

Just a few facts for you, i noticed while flicking through pages of stats (actually it was the top ten of everything book 2000 but I wanted to sound serious). The number one Sulphur Dioxide emitting country is...the czech Republic. It is also the seventh most accident prone country in the world. It has the sixth lowest birth rate, has the highest rate of death from heart disease anywhere (Scotland is second), and is the country which drinks the most beer (Ireland is second here, oddly enough Belgium is only eighth). So unsurprisingly it is the sixth highest spender on health care in the world. Totally unrelated...the worlds largest sports stadium is here in Prague, the strahov, with a capacity of 240,000.

by utttz

we get lost in the north trying to find the polish border.... we found two very helpful people who prepared a map for us.... seems impossible but it was the best map I ever had!Useless to say the road on the map were very narrow with no sign.... about 10KM explained in czech language and of course I know about 0 words of czech!the opening pic of this page is exactly the end of the map. Just wondering: are you able to explain a map without speaking? each word was almost useless as I can't understand that language, but I'm pretty sure without explaination that map would have been useless.

Prague is of course a wonderfull city. But once you have visited this capital, take some time to discover the rest of the country. There are a lot of beautiful old castles, visit the horse museum in Slatinany. Pilsen and Budvar are not the only two cities where you can taste the local beerculture. Jihlava with the nice galleries. Telc, the Unesco monument city is allready crowded with tourists. Also for people who like nature trails. You don't have to buy maps at home. There is extensive mapping material available.I am a real fan of this country. Don't hestitate to ask me any questions.

Before I will get into the very special beers, here is one popular regional beer I haven't found outside the Czech Rep, yet, this one is Radegast.

Krušovice

by Gili_S

Krušovice is another of the big breweries in the Czech Republic and another brand you can find often exported. In this photo is the white beer but actually from this brand I prefer the dark beer.

Budejovický Budvar

by Gili_S

This is probably the most famous and legendary Czech beer. After 100 years of dispute with the American brand who stole its name they are now can use their original name and sell this excellent beer.
