Melnik Things to Do
One of the most romantic spots especially during sunset.
Watching the confluence and overlooking the vineyard right with the Melnik castle at your back at the same time.
This square belongs to historical sights of this town. In the middle of the square there is a fountain with group of statues called "Vintage" created by Vincent Makovsky. There is also lots of originaly Gothic houses which were rebuilt in Baroque slyle at this square. Under these houses there are large wine cellars and many houses have original Baroque gables.
At the northeast part of the square you can find the Renaissance city hall and Baroque Kapucin cloister.
St. Peter & Paul's Church faces the Melnik castle. Originally it was a Romanesque church, which was rebuilt in Gothic style. King Vladislav Jagellonsky participated in the rebuilt too and that's why the vaults are decorated with the letter "W". This church was rebuilt 3times and it's today's appearance is from the 3rd rebuilt in the 16th century. The well-known Melnik's tower is at the north part of the church and together with the church and castle creates Melnik panorama.
All the young people in Melnik come here, some for a cup of coffee, other for good beer.
Sometimes there is a concert of local band here or even some of the popular music groups in Czech Republic had concerts here. At these ocassions you won't get a table there. It's a small friendly restaurant.
In summer there are also tables outside. Young people hang out here.
Favorite Dish: I like to come here with my friends when we want to chat and have a good cup of coffee. If you want to play pool, billiards or darts, no problem, just walk through the door and you are there.
We usually start our evenings here.
