I was lucky to see over sixty automobiles there: passenger cars, sport cars, racing cars, military cars and trucks. There were a lot of chassis, aircraft, railway-engine car and engines of passenger cars, trucks and planes. The...

There are some festivals like this one, where a lot of locals participate. Some of them wear traditional clothes, many people dance, drink and have a good time. This place is in Roznov pod Radhostem, a resort town best known for its museum of traditional wooden architecture from the Beskydy region. Joy in life can be so simple!

It was an one day festival in Koprivnice, from the afternoon till... the next morning. A lot of czech rock groups had taken part, I liked more "Pusa". I was surprised by the number of the groups which were using the saxophone as a basic musical instrument, it was nice.

It was a nice activity, I think that you all agree. Much beer (czech beer has a tradition of 10 centuries!), sausages near the fire, songs (can you imagine the mayor of the city singing "Piraeus' children"?), thoughts like jolly birds...

Excuse me, I travelled around Czech by scheduled bus only once in early 90'. But I noticed numerous bus stops in almost every, even the smallest town in Czech including of course Koprivnice. The town was large enough, so there were a few bus stops, each with detailed bus schedule. Local buses by CSAD (main Czech bus company) looked a little bit...

Koprivnice Local Customs

  • More propaganda than progress

I noticed that very many car models (most!) displayed in Tatra Technical Museum were prototypes never put into production. It was understable at the beginning of motorisation, say before WWII. But why did they spend a lot of money and effort for so many car prototypes which were never produced in poor after WWII Cz\echoslovakia?Just my opinion:...

Koprivnice Warnings and Dangers

  • Czech is more and more expensive :-(

Look at my picture taken in late 90' - tickets to Tatra Technical Museum cost 20 Kc (adults) and 9 Kc for children 6-15yo and free entrance for children up to 6yo. Hmm... now (2004) prices are over twice higher: 50 Kc and 20 Kc. My conclusion: Czech Republic is still inexpensive in comparison to any Western European country but more and more...

On the other hand those ones taken with flash were too dark at background not lighted by the flash.Keep in mind that a built in flash on most cameras will only light up an area between 10 and 20...

  • T601 Monte Carlo (1949)

After WWII a couple of sports and racing cars have been built including the aluminium two-door T601 Monte Carlo in 1949. They were based on model T600 (called Tatraplan) which was the first post-war car in mass production in Koprivnice. It was fitted with a rear-mounted air-cooled four-cylinder engine and an aerodynamic body.T600 won many sporting...
